There stood on the altar was Lucifer holding a onto the body of a girl, the same dagger that moments ago finished the blood vow between Lucas and I, had now drawn a deep line from ear to ear across her neck. She was bleeding out onto the stone platform, hot red spurts of her life force shotting out of the open wound. Her red hair was flayed out across the sacrificial stone, her glassy eyes looking up at me in sheer happiness.

Images flashed through her mind – grotesque creatures born of darkness, whispers insidious and seductive, a chilling loneliness that promised oblivion. Suddenly, a flicker of movement caught her eye. A shadowy form detached itself from the darkness, its eyes glowing with an unnatural red light. Before she could react, a dozen more figures materialized, their grotesque forms a symphony of claws, fangs, and leathery wings – creatures born from Xol'thul's very essence. Ethan drew his sword with a practiced flick of his wrist, the blade gleaming faintly in the darkness. Sienna adjusted the collar of her blouse as she stood in front of the small group of women seated in folding chairs.
