Sleeping with my bodyguard
Reed stepped out from behind her, shirt rumpled, pants unzipped.
Disgust curdled in my stomach.
I let out a bitter scoff.
“Sloane…” Evelyn said again, stepping forward.
I cut her off. “Save it.”
I turned on my heel.
“Sloane, wait!” she called, rushing after me.
I stopped and faced her, the fury rising in my chest.
“What could you possibly say, Evelyn?!”
She flinched.
My voice trembled, not with fear but, with betrayal. “You were my best friend… no. You were like my sister. We’ve known each other our whole lives. So tell me, what insane reason could you possibly come up with for sleeping with my husband?”
