He tried to savour up every moment he had making the best use of his time to steal as many glances as possible. He drove into the estate and whispered something to the security man who recognized the car and gave him directions to the Huang mansion. The estate was truly beautiful. He drove to the Huang mansion and explained to the bodyguard who was already prepared to track Huang Wei. Mr Byun had been in charge of the family's security for 2 decades. He had watched Huang Wei grow. He was about to go out to look for her at the orders of his irritable boss when he saw her car. He was quite surprised to see her sleeping go to the back of the car.

Glancing at the caller ID, I noticed it was my bodyguard, the one I had assigned to accompany Laura to the hospital. I wondered why he was calling me but chose not to answer his call. Instead, I dialed Laura's number to inquire about their whereabouts. Her phone rang for a few seconds and then abruptly went silent. Panic set in; something seemed amiss. Why had my bodyguard called, and now Laura was declining my call? Just then, my bodyguard's call came through once more, and this time I answered it immediately. He was visibly out of breath and appeared fearful. "Boss, I can't find Madam. I've searched the entire hospital, and I can't locate her," he stammered.

He whispered. My body shivered when he said that. I swallowed hard. This beast! “Let’s go!” he ordered. It squeezed my waist away from there. Its guards lined up when they saw us. This followed as we passed them. The others are in front of me. As I walked I could not take my eyes off the gun in the pocket of the bodyguard in front of me. I took a deep breath then grabbed the gun from the bodyguard’s pocket. I pointed that out to the people around me as well as Thander who was now gaping and couldn’t believe the speed of events.

Five years of martial arts training, a black belt in Taekwondo, and so many other skills, but it was the note from her very recent instructor in Karate, that had apparently done the trick this time. CHAPTER 12 THE DEAD WITNESS Elena’s POV “They found another body.” The bodyguard’s words made my heart stop and Damien’s face became serious. “Where?” “The east garden.” “Who found him?” “Two guards during their search.” Damien nodded. “Take me there.” The bodyguard looked at Damien’s bandaged shoulder. “Boss, you’re injured.” “I said take me there.” “Yes, Boss.” He turned to leave and Damien looked at me. “You’re coming with me.”

“I won’t hide behind you forever.” Kane’s thumb stroked once over his pulse point. “You’re not hiding. You’re letting me stand between you and the threat.” He stepped closer, crowding Sebastian against the cool glass. One hand braced beside Sebastian’s head, the other stayed at his throat. “Your body already knows this is where it belongs. Protected. Steady. Mine to guard.”

She asked immediately as she stepped closer to him. “You know each other?!” “You’re the client?!” Jenna and Nimi asked simultaneously and consecutively as they both turned to Annabeth. Nimi exhaled deeply as he took his weight off the car and walked closer to them. “Remember I told you Jenna is my boss?!” “Well, I’m actually her bodyguard” he added. Annabeth’s eyes went wide immediately as her jaw dropped, but she was able to control herself quickly and masked it up with a small smile.

I said. “Then why?” Because I can’t afford to lose you. The thought came uninvited, sharp and immediate, but I swallowed it before it could reach my lips. I shouldn’t catch myself saying that now, should I? “Because someone is targeting you,” I said instead. “And until I know who, I’m not taking chances.” He held my gaze, searching, weighing. “That’s the bodyguard talking,” he said. I tilted my head slightly. “Does it matter which part of me is saying it?”

Followed by their other friends and a few new faces. “I must be dreaming.” He groaned in disbelief. “I know I am fine and all, but to dream of me? Really?” That is all the bodyguard needed to confirm his buddy was truly there, and he wasn't just seeing his own things. That obnoxious tone he never thought he would miss. “Goddamned it!” He growled, finally letting his guard down. His friends had ceased his captors' weapon. Stepping forward, Bich reached to drag his friend off the floor.
