Threads of silver, gold, and crimson tangle around each other, forming a beautiful tapestry of color that enchants the eye. Three symbols stand out each time I look. The first is the moon outlined in silver, then the sun outlined in gold, and lastly, in the center of it all, a necklace with a stone, wrought in so deep a yellow it can't be anything but gold. The hood to her cloak is still on, so when we meet in the clearing, I can't see Merlin's face at all. She doesn't make any moves to pull it off, and that's fine by me. I dragged myself up and went to see what was going on reluctantly. “Come with me.” She said in an excited voice and led us to the back of the tree where a huge symbol was engraved. A four-petalled flower. Each of the red petals contained a symbol; a dragon, a werewolf, two witches. The only difference between this symbol and the symbol of code red was the Heart of magic in the center. Her eyes lit up as she said, “Isn’t this symbol self-explanatory.” Zarina, Aslan, and Caleb looked at her dumbfounded. To be honest even I didn’t know what we were supposed to do with this symbol.

I followed her gaze at the floor and confusion built up in my mind. There was a symbol drawn out of blood. It was a diamond with two triangles at the side of the diamond denoting as if the diamond was glowing. I crouched down to inspect the symbol closely. "That is the symbol of our academy." I heard Eleanor's whisper. I scrunched my eyebrows together while thinking. What on earth did that meant? It was time for me to make my mind run on the wheels of intelligence. "You sure about that?" Almost as though the book held secrets that felt almost wrong of me to try to divulge. But I opened it anyway. This wasn't like the other journal. This one had no name. Just endless pages and pages of sketches. The first none was a crown of coral and bone, with blood being tipped over it from a golden goblet. I supposed this particular one was a symbol of his ascension that never got to happen. There was another of a sea serpent being curled around a skull, with a phrase written below it. "He waits in the deep." I murmured. I shook my head and turned to another mage.
