“Well, she’s mad because I didn’t tell her. Mad because she didn’t know I liked him in the first place, and she’s mad because she walked in on the wrong part of a conversation.”
“What was said?”
“I was on the beach having a conversation with Mason, Alyx, and Jarren. Alyx said something. I can’t quite remember what it was, but then I said something along the lines of ‘That’s why you’re my best friend.”
“And Mallory walked up at that time?” Mom asked. I nodded. “Don’t feel bad, sweetie. You’re entitled to more than one best friend.”
“I tried explaining that to her, but she wouldn’t listen. We’ve just lost our friendship, Mom. It’s just gone after all these years.”
