As Adam watched the blood drain from Joy’s face, he knew instantly who this man was. And at her softly murmured, “Jeremy,” his assumption was confirmed. Her ex—this was the guy who’d cheated on her? Adam had to restrain himself from grabbing the guy by the collar and punching him in the face. Instead, he curled his hand into a fist underneath the table. Jeremy looked like a guy who’d cheat on his fiancée. Tall, lean, his slacks and shirt perfectly ironed and his hair coiffed just so, he looked like he’d cry if you told him he shoes were ugly. Adam hated him on sight.

However, just when he was about to leave, he received a call from Tyrone. Tyrone’s voice sounded grim as he asked, “Kayson, can you come to Skyspring?” Kayson was dumbfounded as he replied, “I’m in Skyspring right now. What’s wrong, Grandpa Tyrone? Did something happen?” Tyrone fell silent for a while before replying, “Jeremy got into a car accident. The doctor said he’s in critical condition right now.”

The little girl looked absolutely adorable, looking around the place with big excited eyes as she hugged her father's neck. Jeremy was talking to another guy who was sitting next to him, while a man a seat farther was glaring at him and then smacked the head of the first guy. The two strangers looked, surprisingly, a lot like Aiden. The man must be Aiden's father and the young man... he must be Aiden's brother. As Ryder observed the three of them with curious eyes, her gaze landed on Jeremy who suddenly frowned then out of nowhere started laughing again, patting the young man's shoulder. "What are you looking at?"

We both watch as he saunters over to a red-head. “I’m completely miserable.” Emily chuckles sadly, and I want to comfort her somehow, but she hurriedly replaces it with a smile, before leaving to mingle with other gaming nerds. Looks like my matchmaking skills might need a little bit of work. “Emma.” I hear a deep rumble. Looking up, I see Jeremy looking completely in his dark t-shirt that says ‘Never say Game Over.’ He has a dark jacket over it, his golden blonde hair is messy today, like he rolled out of bed and didn’t bother combing it, still it gives him this carefree look.

Xander stepped out of Maya’s apartment building, the evening air brushing his face. He ran a hand through his hair. That woman could argue fire into melting. He exhaled, heading for his parked car when a familiar voice called out from the side of the building. “Boss.” Xander turned sharply. “Jeremy?” The younger man stepped out from the shadows, dressed in a sleek charcoal coat and black turtleneck, tablet tucked under one arm, phone in the other. “What the hell are you doing here?” Xander asked, blinking at him. “Weren’t you supposed to still be in Celsius City?”

Heads turned, not suddenly, but naturally, like they had been expecting me. I didn’t react though, I just kept walking. The elders sat at the front, calm and steady as always. A few people stood by the sides, watching quietly, but I didn’t pay much attention to them. My focus moved forward. And then I saw him. Jeremy was already there. Waiting….. He looked normal, and that was the first thing I noticed. There was no sign of earlier…..no trace of the man who had been drunk, spouting rubbish and acting like he was crazy….

After saying that, Jeremy realized he just had a slip of the tongue. “I’m sorry, Miss Young.” Jeremy quickly corrected himself. “You didn’t get my name wrong. I am Cathy.” Cathy lifted her sad eyes and looked into Jeremy’s surprised eyes. Jeremy was confused. When he was about to ask what was going on, Adam walked out of the room. When he saw Jeremy, Adam looked as if he was letting out a sigh of relief. “Go in now. I think you should be able to buy some time for him.”
