Soree stood up and nodded to them, “You’ll be safe here, but we will need to keep you here for a bit longer.”
They both fell to their knees, thanking her and me for letting them stay.
Then Soree turned to me. “Let’s go home, I need a shower.”
I grinned at her. “Want some company?”
She cupped my cheek and smiled, but it didn’t reach her eyes.
“Soree?”
“The spell,” she started. “It reeks of Selwyn.”
