Nick displayed his sinistrous smile. "You're out of you mind, Nick. You're insane." Sunil uttered. "Who do yah think yah are, Sunil? You're just a son of a farmer. Yah were born to be just a farmer. Y'all live as a farmer yet yah act like you're my Father. Do yah think talkin' to me like that makes yah a hero?" Nick mocked the middle aged farmer. "Let's just go, Sunil." His wife whispered to him and tried to pull his arm again.

“This is giving apocalypse realness!” “Look!” Tomato squeaked. “There goes the barn!” Indeed, a small shack spun like a child’s toy in the air and landed on a terrified goat, who fainted on impact. Edric, with his kingly composure still intact despite the dirt on his sleeve, took a step forward and calmly—way too calmly—approached the sobbing farmer. “I’ll... compensate you,” he said, watching the last of the wheat disappear into the heavens. “With double. And rebuild your barn. And… maybe throw in a few enchanted cows.”

The farmer himself was happily singing near the field while watering the crops, close to the chickens. The sight made him smile. This world might be full of strangers and magic, but it doesn’t mean that most of them are bad. ‘Maybe it’s just me,’ he thought. The rain slowly stopped. Thomas and Eric also finished their tea and discussion. Thomas personally walked Eric out and watched as he drove away. Just as Thomas was about to leave, he vaguely heard some curses from far away. When he raised his head and looked over, he noticed that an old farmer was bowing and apologizing nonstop to a man in a suit. He looked pitiful. Thomas looked at him carefully and recognized the old farmer. It was the farmer who always delivered vegetables to his restaurant.

He walked over to the wagon and pulled a bag out of the back and then patted the side. “Well, good luck!” called out the farmer as he set off. “You know where we are when you’ve finished. There’ll be a slap up dinner waiting for you!” Sonny hung the bag on his saddle. He gave the farmer an exaggerated wave and then turned to us. “Right then, down to business. You probably have a bunch of questions, and I’m the man with the answers. Got here with my lot four years ago. Didn’t have a clue what was going on back then, but now I know this place like the back of my hand. Trust me, bumping into me was the best thing that could have happened to you.”

He's one of the eldest farmers here and has a son who went to our high school, who works with him on his farm. “Mornin’ sheriff,” he says as I take a seat and place my phone down next to me. “Morning Mr. Jenkins,” I reply with a smile. She sighs, patting Mr. Jenkins on his shoulder and pursing her lips. “Let me know if you need anything else, Mr. Jenkins,” she says to him and turns on her heels. “Will do darling. Hey, by the way, put his food on my tab, will you?” he says making her lock eyes with me. “Uh, are you sure?” she asks turning to see him as she pours a cup of coffee.

The drive was long, he played no music, and I was trying not to stare at his arms as he drove. “So, um, where are you coming from?” “I was delivering something to a local business.” “six hours away. I cannot imagine.” He laughs again. “Well, darlin’ I’m a farmer. And a rancher, so I do these things sometimes.” I gave him a look. “No I meant, I can’t imagine why you’d live in Dusty Creek.” “I don’t live there. My farm is on the outskirts of the town, and so is my pack.”
