Grinning smugly up at him, I crossed one leg over the other and then pried the book off the table, surprised by how heavy it was.
“Careful.” His eyes sparkled with mischief. “It’s heavy.”
I rolled mine back at him, lifting the book easily once I knew what to expect. “Thanks.” My tone dripped with sarcasm, but then I read the cover. “Wait – thank you, Cy,” I said again, my voice serious, coloured by my interest and gratitude. “Really. Where did you find this?”
