Smiling Critters Halloween Novels & Stories

Alison's POV : Streets are filled with scary, weird, and noisy decorations as well as the houses of the humans who celebrate this holiday called Halloween. Children are running around with pumpkin-like baskets as they put makeup and other stuff to look scary. But they actually look cute, especially those who try to imitate us werewolves. The fur isn't too convincing as well as the nose but their howl could pass the standards of a newly shifted one.

Piper asked, breaking the silence. "Yeah, I never even thought of that!" Willow brought out the ticket from her purse and was watching it with keen interest. "Yeah, about that! I noticed something back at home, the back of the ticket that has a skull, scratch it off" he said. "Okay, this is just a Halloween show, can we not try to make it look creepy?" Hazel asked. "Come on, it is part of the fun of it!" Piper told her as she had scratched hers off already.

They replied me in chorus," aaahn...forget that...so naive of you...don't be a kid pussy. We were all outside checking out our Halloween costumes, while doing that, Kate brought a park of Sushi out for us to share. I saw my neighbor, The Voodoo man walking towards where we were sitting. I was surprised and didn't let anyone say anything before I rushed what was in my mind.

"Let's go get you something to eat at the cafeteria. Have you eaten today?" "No." We spilled out into the hall and a world of autumnal delights. Jack-o-lanterns and scarecrows filled every nook and cranny bats and black cats hadn't occupied. A couple of our residents' grandkids were over for some early Halloween shenanigans, dressed up as whatever popular fancy had taken kids these days with a couple of classics. A ninja followed by a yeti dressed as an ice princess shoved past us to get to the free candy that Xavion was tossing out to the trick-or-treaters like an old woman tossing breadcrumbs to the pigeons at the park.

he growls, and the silhouette giggles. "Well, since you asked nicely," she snaps her fingers and the woods disappear. I smile at the small old woman who is now clearly standing to my right wearing a red and white striped vest and a clown nose. "Welcome to the Cryptid Carnival," she bows handing me a balloon, and then leans in closely and says "Hang on to your Alpha, dearie. Not everything here is as kind as I am."

The werewolf howling at the moon growling baying, softly croons, a clown I think might be a goon, the wicked hour coming soon, cackling witches laugh & snicker spirits run & candles flicker demons plot, giggle... ... snicker, rubbing hands, they fight & bicker, Hehehe... I must admit their kinda spooky Some are cute and kinda kooky, To me look like a bunch of groupies, Ha ha, good one poet! Oh, well thanks! I give my stick another flick, I guess I gotta few more tricks!? as fires dance in flaming licks,

I stare at the approaching road as I drive from the center of town back home, and I occasionally sip on a coffee I made and poured into a travel mug, but nothing seems to cure my grogginess. Halloween is around the corner and all the businesses around the lake have decorated their storefronts for the holiday. Webs line windows with giant spiders, skeletons stand at attention to usher customers inside, and the dentist's office has a window painting of three witches around a bubbling cauldron with a written offer to trade in candy at a dollar per pound.

He seemed carefree and happy, the weight of his father’s corruption not yet tainting his soul. I race toward him and take a long stick in hand. The wood felt rough against my small palm. It was about 2 foot long and forked out at the end, very much like a toasting prong. Lucas places two large marshmallows onto the end and pulls me to his side, showing me how to hold them to the flames so as not to burn them or myself. I’m giggling, my voice ringing out like signing bells. “Lucas, I love camp outs under the stars. We should do this every night.”

As we were walking, the people in the house started to pop all dressed as creepy characters from the horror movies. While I screamed and jumped, Jason, Nix and Mal, laughed. This is the last time I'm coming to this house. Next year I'm staying home. After walking and me screaming, we got to the exit. "Next year I'm staying home." I told them. "I agree, this place wasn't scary." Mal added. "Next year I'll be making you scream on Halloween then." He pulled me to him and then crashed his lips against mine. "So, dashing Hunter, let's go have fun and leave the love birds alone." Mal told him.

The eerie quiet that had lingered over the clearing was shattered by their sudden, discordant noise—a grotesque symphony of guttural growls, snarls, and hisses. It was as if they were celebrating the arrival of the full moon, their voices rising in twisted, manic glee. They swayed and convulsed in unison, their jagged teeth bared in grotesque smiles. Some clapped their hands, their long, spindly fingers slapping against their palms in a rhythm that sent chills down Lara's spine. Others scraped their claws across the ground, carving into the earth with a sickening screech, like they were marking the moment for the dark ritual to begin.
