Smiling Man Novels & Stories

She took the drink with a smile and takes a sip. He relaxed his hands in his pocket, and scoots closer to her, heaving a sigh. “Enjoying?” he asked. Her eyes follow his face. “I can’t say I am enjoying completely. But thanks for asking anyway.” “Why do you pretend to be fake when you aren’t? why smiling when you can’t smile from inside?”. “And who said I am not smiling from inside? You are wrong about it. I am not sad about anything. Not now anyway.” She drank the whole win in one sip.

I spun around quickly to see Solitary Man smiling at me. “Oh, um, thanks. I didn’t even really have time to think about it to be honest. I just reacted,” I said, a little flustered. Up close, he was really handsome. Like movie star handsome. He had a white t-shirt that did nothing to hide his muscles and dark blue swim trunks that looked expensive. He ran a hand through sandy hair, his eyes twinkling at me.

Man:what? Cab:this and he gave him his camera..And Manik's eyes twinkled seeing the camera.. it's manan kissing video..Fab5 smirked.. Screen freezes on manik smirking and nandu crying face..

I stuttered. “You don’t have to be so scared, I’m not going to hurt you, I just want to be sure you’re fine and you look like you are.” He smiled, showing a perfect set of teeth. He looked tough, lean and sinewy and the very way he smiled at me told me that he’s the kind of man that easily makes friends. Reflected light glimmered over his handsome face like beams of icy radiance and I couldn’t help but smile back at him as I apologized again.

It was the least she could do after making him uncomfortable. “You don’t have to do that.” The bartender fled and she faced the man with the whiskey voice. His nose was wider than most but his eyes were striking with the long dark eyelashes. Beautiful, even. “Call it my version of an apology. My mood has nothing to do with you. I’ve been on edge all day.” He lifted his drink and took a sip. “Thank you.” “You’re welcome.” He put down his drink, ran his palm over his thigh then offered it to her. “I’m Smiley.”

A pause. "Where are you?" I looked up and across the terminal and saw a hand go up somewhere near the exit doors, a tall man with broad shoulders and the easy stance of someone who was entirely comfortable being the most visible person in a room. He was waving. Aurelio steered us toward him and the man came forward, already smiling, and the smile was the kind that arrived fast and stayed, the smile of someone who genuinely liked the world and expected it to like him back. He came through the exit doors and that was when things got louder.

Alexei’s smirk was even more infuriating as we drew closer and I just couldn’t wait for it to wipe clean off when we began the attack. All that smugness fading into confusion, oh it was a delight to imagine. The bastard reached into his jacket and Dominic stopped me in my tracks. So did the man pulling Manuel. He laughed, pulling his hand back out, something unrecognizable in his hold. It was when he stuck it between his lips I realized what it was—the was taking a smoke, right now, in the middle of it all. “It’s just a cigarette, damn.” He said lighting the butt. “Why so jumpy?”

Shocked, I release my grip on him, at the same time that I realize what’s happening. The man is actually not smiling, at least, not voluntarily. What he's actually doing is having a stroke.

My attention was just focused on him and I couldn't quite imagine our eyes meet as he sang the first line. “Gotta change my answering machine” the man sing the first line and I didn’t expect my heart to beat faster. I just listened to the man sing until he finished while I was still stunned by him still unable to move on with his angel voice. I wonder who is that man? What is his name? Where does he live? “Thank you I will going to sing a few song again “ The man said and then he smiled I immediately took a deep breath when he smiled damn! those smile many people are probably victims of that smile huh?

He asked breathlessly trying to take his eyes of me. "Umm. Isn't there a saying that "The real man smiles even in trouble, gathers strength from distress, and grows brave by reflection? Maybe sometimes we just need to smile to clear one's mind.." I said euthusitically, still fighting against his gaze. He remained silent for a while as his mode changed immediately, whaaat!! Have I said something wrong.?? He turned his back against me. "Really? What about some painful memories that can never been erased?"
