I stick my tongue out at her; that makes her roll her eyes and look away. I scoff and swipe open my phone. My heart sinks when there's still no text from Scottie. But there's a post on his story. That makes me smile a little. I resume playing Sia's Big Girls Cry and lay my head against the window, watching nature as we head off to Bear Lake.

The fourth book writes the chapter. She sends it to Clara the morning after she finishes it. Clara's response arrives four hours later: a single line — *This is the chapter the first three books were building toward.* Valentina reads it at the desk. Then she opens the nineteenth notebook to the review page and adds one more line below the closing paragraph: Clara's response to the fourth chapter, November 3rd: 'This is the chapter the first three books were building toward.' She is right. It is. I am ready.

Mia's POV I lock up the door of this old, abandoned house. Running for days because of the zombie outbreak. I find a room with bars on the windows. It looks safe, but then I hear a noise. Zeke stumbles in from the closet. He was bitten last week. His skin is gray and peeling; pus leaks from sores on his arms. He smells of rotten meat and shit. His eyes are milky white. He groans low. I retreat backward, holding my heart because it's pounding. I grab my knife but he's quick.

But so many years had passed, she probably had forgotten about it. Liam did not respond. Bette continued saying, "All right, the drama I've been following is starting soon. I'll hang up now." Blake's place was indeed quite far away. Ten minutes later, Blake, who was watching videos on her phone, received updates for the subscribed novel.
