The Light's Shadow

The Light's Shadow

Past- November 25th, 2032 "For the last time Christine. You don't have to help," Abdullah insists. I pout as I reluctantly place the salad down. This side of Abdullah is different from the one that I'm used to. John sees me act sad and pats my shoulder. He then lets out a little chuckle. I glare at him with squinted eyes. I don't know what's so funny to him. "Don't be so glum, Christine. When it comes to cooking in Thanksgiving, Abdullah loves his space," I nod at Johnathan's explanation. but it doesn't help the guilt within me.

Moon Touched

Moon Touched

author pov Over the next few weeks, preparations for a human Thanksgiving holiday were away. The kitchen was a non-stop activity of baking and prepping for the big meal. The entire haunted territory had been transformed into a harvest field with haystacks, dried cornstalks, pumpkins, squash, dried corn, and beautiful fall mums of all colors.

My Best Friend’s Father Wants me

My Best Friend’s Father Wants me

Enora: “Dear, can you smell something?” I sniffed the air. No one’s sense of smell was really good if the person had a cold but I was certain that it was nothing. Besides, I could still smell mom’s cooking and it was amazing. “Nope. I think it’s fine. You are probably worrying too much.” I kissed her cheek and she smiled. Thanksgiving was going to be perfect. The turkey was being stuffed and Mum and I were making jokes about last year's Thanksgiving.

Mermaid Thighs

Mermaid Thighs

We can complain because rose bushes have thorns, or rejoice because thorns have roses. – Alphonse Karr Jolene had not realized how much she had missed cooking with her mom for Thanksgiving. They laughed and joked as she did the prep work and Helen did the actual cooking. Cheryl and Dean helped where they could and Bunny sat at the kitchen island, taste testing everything.

Resisting The Alpha Cowboy

Resisting The Alpha Cowboy

▄︻デ══━一 COLTON HAYES💥 Dinner had progressed greatly, and after that fulfilling conversation that shoved my worries away, it was time for the next part of the meal. The more sweet part of our thanksgiving tradition. The sounds of dessert drifted around the house—forks scraping plates, the faint clatter of coffee cups, laughter mingling with the smell of cinnamon and pecans. It was warm in the dining room, the kind of warmth that settled deep into the bones, layered with sugar and nostalgia.

A Promise to Remember

A Promise to Remember

"No sweat. I'll join you in Eldonfield instead." ... Morning light filtered in, and I opened my eyes, my head pounding from yesterday's flurries. Still, my friend's birthday beckoned. Gift in hand, I couldn't skip it. My phone buzzed with a message from Ted: [Forgot these. Swing by tonight.] Attached was a photo of the Snoopy pajamas. They were a sneaky couple's set I'd bought—one for him, one for me. Whenever he wore his, it sparked a fleeting illusion of happiness, as if he belonged to me, even if just for a moment. In hindsight, it was pathetically laughable.

The Phoenix Heiress

The Phoenix Heiress

“Like pie?” My father chuckled, the sound rare but real. “Like pie. And family.” As the plates were cleared and the last of the pie disappeared, Kat’s nonno leaned down toward Koda, his eyes twinkling. “Well, piccolo,” he said warmly, “now that Thanksgiving is done, are you ready to meet Santa soon?” Koda froze mid-bite of his roll, his brow furrowing. “Santa?” he asked, the word heavy with curiosity. “Who’s Santa, Biz-Nono?”

Yes Boss!

Yes Boss!

It's not supposed to stay on for the entire night. Secondly, Tina kept disappearing a few times throughout the day. But that can just be my overactive imagination playing tricks on me. It was thanksgiving after all, and she's happily married and has family. I envy them. I wish I had someone to cook me thanksgiving dinner and celebrate with me. Ever since my entire family died, it's been so hard to celebrate this day without hearing mom's affectionate voice, dad's booming laughter and Ryan's stupid jokes. But who am I kidding? Savannah loves cooking, she's probably cooking up a storm right now, making sure we have enough to last for a month. She did order me to hand over Roan yesterday to go

I super liked the story. It has a twist that would definitely hook you to read until the end. Though the story is short but it has covered all the important aspect of what you need to know to fully understand it. Nice one!

I really enjoyed this book. It was short but had the perfect amount of twist and turns to keep you hooked and satisfied at the end. To the author you are talented and I look forward to reading more from you!!! Thank you for this great short story.

World of Tomorrow

World of Tomorrow

Still holding her against him, he marched down the hallway, pivoted to the right, then down the hallway into the kitchen. Giggling and limp against him, Evelyn tipped her head back against his shoulder. “I think that depends on who you ask,” she countered, then groaned softly when he assaulted her throat with nibbling kisses. “Mmmm,” he murmured against her neck, purely for the sake of dragging more of those ear-candy little sounds out of her. “Well, I suppose that was bound to happen when Roosevelt made the announced change barely twelve weeks in advance. This country’s so fiercely bipartisan it can’t even agree on a day for Thanksgiving.”

I've barely been able to put this story down. I absolutely love it. I love how descriptive the story is. And it has made me want to have been able to go to that World's Fair. It is a beautiful love story and I can't wait to finish it.

I am only to Chapter 22, but this book is Amazing so far and by far my favorite. I love historical fiction and this piece is a gem. I read the Author's book about Grace and Juliet and just had to jump right into this one as some characters are the same.

Daddy's Best Friend

Daddy's Best Friend

I sank into the plush cushions of the couch, the phone cradled between my ear and shoulder as Kylie's voice floated through the line. "Sophia, I've been thinking about Thanksgiving. I've got a surprise for you." My eyes lit up with curiosity. "A surprise? Kylie, you're killing me here. What is it?" "Well, drumroll, please. I'm coming over for Thanksgiving! How does that sound?" My heart skipped a beat. "No way! That's incredible! You, Thanksgiving, and all the craziness? Count me in!" We giggled like schoolgirls planning the next sleepover, imagining the laughter and warmth that Thanksgiving would bring. Then, amid our excitement, Kylie's tone shifted, becoming more serious.
