It felt as if my soul were being ripped out through the top of my head. Even then, the crowd only grew louder. Rotten vegetables and eggs struck the platform. Someone shouted, "Traitor! Parasite! Rot in hell!" Behind me, the giant screen flickered. My memories began to rewind. The first scene appeared before everyone. It was the third day after Lily's death. I was dragged to the front of her memorial, where everyone demanded the attacker's name. They spat on me. They threw stones. Hands clamped around my arms, and someone yanked my hair hard enough to tear it loose.

Samantha's with me, I didn't want to risk her life but, with what happened a while ago, she's at risk. The memories were still hunting her every time she hears gunshots and things involving violence she would space out or hallucinate. She panicked a while ago and now, she's sleeping on my shoulder. I guess the past was still a dark room for her, it left her unhealed scars. She couldn't let go of it. I was like her when my parents died. The scenery I witnessed kept on bothering me every time I closed my eyes but a mafia boss couldn't be weak, so I tried my very best to remove those memories from me and finally move on from it.

Maybe it was the sense of loneliness or the repeated routine that makes her too, but she never thinks of Ren as something— as someone just that. Ren is a timid child when she met him first, Mizuki remembers looking at those pair of obsidian orbs, void of anything like a soul grieving. She had met Ren’s old babysitter, Irene was her name, she told her everything that was now the opposite of the child she witnessed. According to her, Ren is a mischievous child, although his parents were always away, he still finds ways to cause trouble, not in a bad way mostly. He’s a trickster, a cheeky child. It was all she remembered.

I asked curiously. He breath so hard and slump on his seat. "Fuck this life. I need to review all my employees profile. I think there's a traitor." I laughed. "Well, you're fucked too." I stopped flipping the pages of the folder that I'm holding. Milda Asuncion. I looked at her picture and it made my chest pump for no other reason. She look sad but nevertheless, she looks like a goddess. "Who… Is this?" I pointed at the picture of her.

So, Miron, what I understand from you is that Sarah actually could not endure the big hole in her family and she kidnapped Rita's mother. You understood correctly. I am sure there are a lot of families like Sarah's as she could have turned to professional help. Sociopaths don't do that. What do you mean when you say, sociopath. I have heard this word before and even connected it with Sarah. I know the meaning but how do you think it applies to her.?

The book cover with Darren's face—older, gentle, reformed. The face of a man who'd found peace. The face of the man who'd shot me. "Elena," I said carefully. "Who's the author?"

It is time they paid it back.” Then its body slowly turned transparent. “Memory extraction complete. “Memory Broadcast Protocol activated.” Before I could tighten my fingers around its tiny paw, the last of its energy burned out. It dissolved into a wisp of pale smoke and vanished without a trace. With everything it had left, the System began broadcasting my memories. The screen in the morgue went black. When it lit up again, it was playing a memory from the year I turned ten. Back then, I had been hiding behind a door.

Lucas pulls her closer. “I watched my best friend of years commit a calculated, premeditated crime. And then I watched her play victim so convincingly that I believed every word. Every tear. Every trembling confession.” I wipe my eyes roughly. “I’m a smart woman. I run a successful company. I’m not naive or stupid. But I was completely, utterly fooled. And that terrifies me.” “That’s not your fault,” Derek says quietly. “Sophie is a sociopath. She knew exactly how to manipulate you.”

I have been scared ever since morning that I would run into Axel but I actually haven't seen him today yet and it's slowly starting to be more and more obvious that he's not in school.
