Broken Promise
I heard Sofia's melodious voice behind me and prayed to all the gods I knew to help me before I turned around.
She was so beautiful. Her blue dress rippled behind her as she moved to embrace Nick and then me. As soon as her arms reached me I smelled her scent and became dizzy.
“It's your birthday. I wouldn't miss it," I shrugged, not caring about her nickname, even though I had thought about wearing my old plaid shirt to the party just for teasing.
Sofia was about to say something, but held back. I mentally thanked her. I knew what she would say, in fact, I missed the last one. On her 15th birthday I didn't show up, fearing that I would do what I want to do on this one.
