I sniffed loudly, looking the man up and down, the hairs on the back of my neck rising as I tried to squint past the hood that covered half his face.
“Look, I don't want any trouble alright? Just leave a woman to grieve,” I growled, hiccuping embarrassingly and wiping the snot from my nose, feeling the hollow in my chest widen.
“Oh, but if you play your cards right Olivia, you wouldn't have to grieve ever again.” The stranger rumbled, and something about the familiar cull of his voice, the way the moon hit his black shiny boots just right, made my heart slam wildly into my ribs.
