It's half ten in the morning and I'm trying to wake him up so we can go on a run but he refuses to get up. I've tried asking him but he just said no and rolled over. Then I tried ordering him but apparently my dominance doesn't work in the morning. Now I've resorted to dragging him out. I pull the quilt off his body and throw him over my shoulder.

I let his words swirl around my head, drinking in the sincerity and truth of his comment. “I know” I said back to him quietly. I shut my eyes and listened as he breathed out a relieved sigh and laid down. Neither one of us fell asleep. I could tell by his breathing, and because he stank of anxiety.
