"What exactly is so special about the necklace?" Zenith asked, glancing at the thin chain again, and I immediately pulled Eli closer to my chest.
"It's a necklace, Zenith. My son is unconscious, and this is seriously what you want to talk about right now?"
"I touched it and it burned me. Normal necklaces don't do that."
"Then don't touch it again," I snapped. "Now give me my son."
For a moment, I thought he was going to argue. His eyes narrowed, and I could see the questions stacking up behind them, but something about my expression convinced him this wasn't the right time, because he finally handed Eli over.
