His black hair was longer than I remembered, tied back at the nape of his neck. "Impossible," I breathed. "You were bound. You said you couldn't leave." The King smiled—a tired, ancient smile. "I was bound. But you released me, Mira. When you took the crown, you broke the seals that held my spirit to the catacombs. I am not a ghost anymore. I am alive. Truly alive." Kael didn't lower his blade. "How do we know you're not a trick? A trap set by the Council?"

Despite their efforts, the results were disheartening. "Ms. Swanson's health condition is pretty concerning, and she's missing a kidney. All we can do now is to sustain her with Seraphroot. As for how long it'll be able to keep her going, that's anybody's guess…" My mother nearly passed out when she heard that. My father forced himself to stay composed as he ordered the finest herbs from our storeroom to be brought out. He turned to every doctor in the room, demanding to know the truth about my condition.

I know what I’m supposed to feel. But the part of me that reaches—” He paused, as if searching for the word like it was stored in a cabinet he couldn’t open. “—is gone.”

“Order. Guardian of the Spirit Realm.” Chaos bowed dramatically. “And I am Chaos, messenger of the Void.” The King stared at them for several seconds. Then he rubbed his temples. “…I need a drink.” Order continued calmly as if this reaction were completely normal. “Your Majesty, your concern regarding the kingdom’s succession is valid.” The King looked up. “You think?” Order gestured toward Sol. “Prince Sol must be free to fulfill his role as Spirit King.” Chaos nodded enthusiastically. “Lots of cosmic responsibilities.”

I wasn't an idiot. "You may not believe me now but you aren't a Goddess but a soul. King Alexanders dead wife's soul to be exact. I know you have to wonder why Blake seems to be attached to your hip and why King Alexander made a law so you wouldn't hurt him." He said. A soul? He seriously wanted me to believe I was a soul. I could walk. Everyone knew souls were spiritual beings. Apart of every God or Goddess.

I was the Dead Soul Anchor. The First King shrieked as his logic hit an infinite loop. He couldn't extract my son because I wasn't alive; he couldn't delete me because I wasn't dead. I was the glitch that locked the God in place. "Now, Leo!" my voice boomed—not from my throat, but from the very molecules of the room. "KILL THE DAWN!" Leo didn't hesitate. He inhaled the surge of power I was grounding for him. He released a Verdict. He slammed his small, gold-scarred hand into the King’s solar aperture.

Starsoul's words were very enticing, and when the King of Killers thought of the scene, he had goosebumps all over his skin. In any case, he was the king of world killers. Even if he were to die, he could not suffer such humiliation. Star Soul Evil Spirit smiled and said, “Don’t worry, of course I won’t do this to you. I will successfully dissect you and then throw you into the salt water to slowly heal your wounds. After that, I will cut your wounds open and throw you back into the salt water again. This process will let you taste what is called a fate worse than death!”

Why would he do that? “His heart summoned us,” Alpha King said with a faint, wry smile. “The parts of his soul might not respond to his brain, but to his heart, they’ll always be loyal.” I looked at Mizkeal. He opened a universal design and then the other one. The glowing words emerged from the pages of the universal designs, their pages turning into glowing scintillations as the words flew around him before merging into his body. The remaining tattoos on his body disappeared as the glowing words united with his soul. The only tattoo that remained on his body was the wing tattoo on his back, which disappeared as soon as he absorbed the part of his soul that was inherited by the Alpha King.

In a strained voice, he said, “Sophia, move away! The ancient soul inside him is trying to consume the entire cave. He is no longer our child—he is the spirit of the ‘Original Moreno’!” Mother clutched my hand tightly, trembling. Tears streamed down her face. “I knew it... I knew this day would come. Before dying, the first king of the Moreno lineage sealed his soul inside this cave, so that one day he could be reborn within a pure body of his own bloodline. Sophia, our own blood has become our enemy!”

And being a werewolf who had never shifted, there was only so much his body could do on its own. A knock on the bathroom door startled Evren. “Open the door,” the King’s voice came through the door, and Evren frowned. “I know you’re in pain, Omega. And you’re probably too sore to move. Open the door and let me in.” Evren had the mind to tell the king to fuck off. He wanted to swear at the king and call him every colourful name under the moon but… That was the Lycan King, the ruthless Lycan who had ordered the execution of a man before Evren’s very own eyes, and Evren knew he was probably hanging by a thread.
