Rather than succumb to the anger that sprouted when they refused to answer my questions, I began flitting through the stack of spell books Cordelia left outside. There was one in particular that caught my attention, mostly because of it’s cover. It was made from a pitch-black leather with an odd texture I’d never felt before. Each individual page was lined in silver so that they caught the light each time I turned to a new one. Just as I found the first spell in the book, and realized what type of magic this one depicted, Cordelia was taking it from my hands and snapping it shut. “Oh, no you don’t.” She shook her head much like Grandma did when she caught me g

“I summoned them. Tell them what you need and they’ll fetch it.” I swallowed hard and reached for my satchel at the foot of the bed. My fingers fumbled as I pulled free one of my mother’s spellbooks, the worn leather cover cool against my clammy hands. My heart raced as I flipped through the pages, skimming past wards, charms, and healing rites until I landed on the spell I needed. “Yes, here.” My voice shook as I read the faded words. “I’ll need wolfsbane, powdered moonstone, river salt, and fresh sage. Quickly!”

Aurora’s POV I wiped my hands after the entire process was done, and exited the bathroom, only to see Elder Miriam take out two books and hand them to me. “What;s this?” I asked, curious but at the same time afraid of the answer. “This one is on runes and spells, those enchantments that could either help or hinder you,” Elder Miriam pointed to the dark leather bound book. Then the smaller one. “This one is on herbs, study it. It will augment your expertise as a doctor, and trust me, you will need it. If you have any questions, I will answer them for you.”

I ask achingly “After the three days banquet with the king. That will be more than enough time to be able to get the strands of hair, right?” “Yeah, so do you have a dark art spell book for the altering of fated mates? Since dark art spell books are very limited editions and an individual is not permitted to have it, save for an institution or organization registered under the King's government.” I ask cautiously “Definitely Hermione, your grandmother got legs…” She grins, standing up “Give me a minute, I'll go get the dark art spell book vol.0 for you to see.” Grandmother walks to her room.

She scoured ancient texts and scrolls, searching for any hint of forgotten power or hidden strength. Hours passed, and Lola's eyes burned from reading by candlelight. Just as she was about to give up, she stumbled upon a dusty, leather-bound tome. The title faded, but she could make out the words "Beast of Gévaudan." Her heart raced as she flipped through the pages, reading about an ancient and powerful creature that once terrorized the lands. The spells within promised immense strength and near invincibility, but they also carried dire warnings of the cost.

Alexandra could feel the tension between these two. "Uhmm…I should get inside," she couldn't look them in the eyes, she turned and entered her room. _________ "I'll be introducing something different today," Robert glances over at Lexi, she wasn't paying attention. "Pay attention, little brat," he scoffed. Alexandra rolled her eyes and glided her eyes from the book on the table. "What's that?" She queried, pointing at his hand. The book in Robert's hand caught her attention. "This is a book of spells. There are few of these books, but I think this is the last one, all others have been burnt." He countered as he turned the pages.

The title was also written on the first page. Annabelle Hale;this is my book of shadows. Book of shadows. What did that mean? She began to flip through the pages and her mouth dropped open in awe. It was a book of spells. Magic spells, healing spells, invisible spells, spell of curses, teleporting spells, spells of the past, spells to break a curse... The page sparkled like it was mocking me. Written in perfect cursive with annotations like, “Don't scream if it glows—it’s supposed to.” and “If the walls start bleeding, take a break.” You know. Witch basics. I read the first spell aloud, nervously chewing the end of a carrot stick because yes, I now snack on sentient vegetables and we don’t talk about that.

“There is a spell. It's written in the books. But I never bothered to master it because I didn't think there was a way I could it.” Magma looked up. “Wait, there is but I don't think you can do it.” Why were they all saying the same thing? Now I wanted to try it. “Let me try. If I fail, then I'm the one getting embarrassed.” Magma laughed and stood up, going to the book shelf by the window and pulling out a book. “I heard of this book as a kid. It's called the book of forbidden spells. Only to be used when one is in dire danger and needs urgent saving.”
