My right hand flew to my left shoulder, fingers pressing down as if I could physically hold the pain in place. The pressure met thick bandaging.

Dizziness ensued. “It’s just a stab wound, not a damn heart attack.” The doctor’s eyes narrowed slightly. “A stab wound to the upper chest, narrowly missing your subclavian artery and scraping close to the brachial plexus. Do you know what that means, Mr. Vaughn?” I frowned. “If the angle had been a little deeper,” he continued calmly, “you could have severed major nerves controlling your arm and shoulder. You’re already at risk of partial nerve trauma from the blunt force alone.” I stilled. Rob gave a low whistle, folding his arms. “Translation? If you keep pulling this reckless crap, you’re gonna wake up one day unable to move half your arm.”
