Isaac stayed a few feet back, his hands in his pockets, watching the trees instead of me.
“That thing in your hand,” he said. “The spark.”
“What about it?”
“You’ve done that before?”
“Not exactly like that,” I said.
“Does it scare you?”
I looked up. “Does it scare you?”
He grinned. “A little.”
“Good.”
He laughed, and I hated how easy it was to like the sound.
“I’m not afraid of you, Sienna,” he said, voice quieter.
“You should be,” I replied.
“Because of the fire?”
