The temple lab was unlike any sterile hospital. Smooth stone walls, etched faintly with ancient runes, glowed with a muted warmth from hidden channels of light. Incense burned in the corner, its earthy smoke winding through the air, masking the sharper scent of alcohol and herbs from the worktables. Rows of glass vials and bronze instruments sat carefully arranged, a strange balance of modern science and sacred ritual.

It opened automatically when I approached, and I stepped inside. The laboratory was massive. Much larger than I had expected. Machines and equipment filled the space, arranged in strategic clusters that suggested different workstations for different types of research. Screens lined the walls, displaying data I could not read. Glass containers held liquids in every color imaginable. The air smelled of metal and chemicals and something vaguely electrical. Vex stood at the center of it all, surrounded by a small crew of assistants in white coats. They were gathered around a large table, and from the looks on their faces, whatever experiment they were running was not going well.

Adam is so quiet, just following Nathan and me around the vast laboratory. As I step into the laboratory, my eyes widen with wonder. Everywhere I look, there are intricate pieces of scientific equipment; microscopes, centrifuges, and rows of chemical supplies. Scientists bustle around their workstations, meticulously conducting experiments. Shelves are lined with glassware, filled with colorful solutions that spark my curiosity. The hum of machinery and the soft glow of computer screens create an atmosphere of focused intensity.

I purr at him as we make our way to the laboratory. As soon as we step through the broken doorway, we both know something is wrong. I pull my sword from its sheath and we begin stalking forward. When we step inside the laboratory, the place has been destroyed. It was already a mess, but everything has been burned out, the flames still licking up the walls in some places. It was a Iris's private laboratory where she worked during her rare visits. It was a smaller, more chaotic version of her office at The Observatory sanctum. Shelves lined with jars of pickled strange body parts of creatures and gems competed for space with complex brass astrolabes and half-unrolled charts. The air smelled of chemicals, ozone, and dried herbs. Iris looked up from a bubbling crucible, her interest piqued by the dramatic entrance. “Well, isn't this a cute sight to behold,” she called out. Valerie gasps at the sight that greets us. “Is this… is this what I think it is?” she stutters. “Yes. I had this place built when you left.” Pointing to a garden that stretches over miles by the right, I continue. “That field contains all the herbs you may need to work, including Silverthorn. “This building is a laboratory, stacked with the latest machines and equipments you’ll need.” The building in front of us has over twenty floors. It consists of a small clinic, accommodation spaces for staff, offices, and every other thing a standard laboratory needs. Valerie stares at it, her jaw hanging open.
