Covering myself with a light throw I looked up at Penny returning with old Steve in tow. “Mister Steve wishes to speak with you about Mister Hawkins,” she said softly and I creased my brow as I looked at Steve. “I know that he is a vampire king, and it bothered him after I pointed it out,” I muttered, and he nodded as he let out a long exhale. Wringing his hands Steve clenched his teeth and looked around the room. “I'm feeding him now,” I commented, assuming he was curious about the child, and grinned slightly when he nodded.

“I’m sorry,my phone wasn’t with me.” Gabby stared at him for a moment. Her eyes were filled with worry. “Steve…I saw you.” She said. Steve blinked in surprise. “What do you mean you saw me?” “I saw you in a strange place. There were drawings on the floor and people around you. You looked so weak, just like you look now.” Steve froze, If she saw him in that situation, it only meant that there was a connection between them and that was a good thing for him. I’d never seen this side of him before—this cute, slightly annoyed side that didn't know how to handle a child’s joke. It made my heart do a weird, dizzy flip. “You look cute,” I said softly.
