“What she said, what she meant, whether you were used or not. That kind of thinking will drive you insane.”
I rubbed his temples. “It already kind of is.”
Mike grabbed my own glass and took a sip. “Then stop doing it to yourself.”
I gave him a skeptical look. “Easier said than done.”
“Sure,” Mike said. “But sometimes the best thing you can do is just not give it any more space in your head.”
I stared down at the table again, quiet.
Mike gestured toward his drink. “Tonight? Don’t think about Clara. Don’t think about what she meant, what she didn’t mean, any of that.” He shrugged. “Just drink it off and let your brain take a night off.”
