I looked at the screen until the words stopped meaning anything. Then, because apparently grief made people cruel to themselves, I tapped on her profile. Her account was public. Most of it was harmless. Coffee cups on her desk. Elevator selfies. Photos of the courthouse steps with captions about surviving another day in litigation. Then I saw a post from last week. A picture of a paper cup, a heating pad, and a neatly folded cashmere scarf I recognized immediately. Elliot's scarf. The caption read: When your boss pretends to be all serious but still brings you tea and a heating pad because cramps are trying to murder you. Maybe good men do exist.

Slender clapped his hands, gesturing them to work on whatever they were supposed to be doing. Thankfully, the crowd's eyes slowly started getting busy again without looking at me. They were back to their own businesses; shouting and laughing for whatever reason it was. I didn't bother to look at Fenris again. His stares were just thumping my heart so loud. I held my chest, slowly calming it. "You're not used to the spotlight, aren't you?" Slender's golden eyes smirked. I could say he was a heartthrob when he was younger. Even in his mid-sixties appearance, he was still looking like a hot daddy.

but suddenly it crashed out of my mouth, “Fuck man! fuck this shit!” The guy paused and his face became redder. “Did you just say fuck man?” Seeing the veins popping out of his forehead and neck, I lost my cool and involuntarily bursted into rounds of derisive laughter. “Stop laughing!! you moron” The guy bellowed angrily. “I’m not moron, I'm stiles” Fuck! fuck! stop replying, I said mentally and covered my mouth with my fingers so that words wouldn't crash out of my mouth again. It was as if anytime I think of something negative, it crashes out of my mouth.

Vivian shivered uncontrollably. She tried her best to stay conscious and turned her pleading gaze towards the man who actually resembled a skinny monkey, clutching onto her last straw of survival. “Mister, I’ll do anything if you don’t kill me. My parents are waiting for me back home, and I’m their only daughter.” Slim was very moved. He summoned his courage again and jovially appealed to Sean, “Sean, we won’t be wasting that much time if we do it now.”

I almost spat out my juice. “Deserves you? Then you two really are perfect for each other. A fake and a dog. You two deserve each other for sure!” “You little…” Jace raised his hand to slap me. “Stop.” A cold, calm voice cut through the room. Quincy was standing beside me. I had not even noticed his arrival. He wore a plain suit. He stood tall and straight. His presence felt distant and sharp. He glanced at Jace like he was staring at garbage.

For the first time, the neighbor stood tall and snapped, “We’re neighbors! I don’t owe you anything. Why shouldn’t I speak up about something this ridiculous?” Raines was speechless with rage. She grabbed the manul by the throat and dragged it away. “I don’t care if you’re involved! It’ll die today!” The manul sensed the threat and struggled to escape. Raines pulled out a fruit knife. She was ready to kill it. The scene mirrored my past life exactly. Only this time, I stepped in to stop Raines. I grabbed her hand and said pleadingly, “Raines, it’s still a living creature. Don’t kill it! Can’t we just release it into the wild?”

Maru asked like a teacher in front of his delinquent students. “YES! HAHAHA! PLEASE! MAKE IT STOP! HAHHAHA!” The men and women of the Sentinels answered in chorus. “If you want it to stop, you only need to pee in your spot. That’s all.” Maru finally gave the condition. He was planning this at the very start the moment his good friend Tiny Slim shamed himself in public because of fear. It was an apt punishment. HAHAHA!
