My breath came out in whimpers, like the breath of the weeping Uncivil around me. Tentacles slithered towards me, and seized my arms and wings. Their hold was tight and cool and sticky, like great black worms. They lifted me into the air. More dark tendrils coiled around my feet, legs, and hips, constricting me from the waist down. They pulled hard. ~ My eyes shot open to the sound of my own agonized scream, and Mr. Cillian’s mad cackle. He was in the room with me again. “He’s almost here,” said Mr. Cillian. “It’s almost time.”

At that moment, the skull general suddenly furrowed his brow, and the strange book that had been stored away for a long time suddenly came out on its own and glowed. "What's happening? Why is this book..." The Skull General suddenly thought of something, he took the floating book and opened the glowing page from it. All of them will look at you,” my eyes widened, “neither me nor Adonis. You. They’ll be wondering who you are and if they can bend you to their will and get some information about him.” Dom pointed at Adonis. “Women in our world are... easier to manipulate.” I didn’t contradict his words. “Good thing I’m not from your world,” I gritted. Not angry. My teeth gritted out of nervousness, one of my many nervous ticks.

Logan puffed his chest in pride, and Asher laughed at his best friend’s antics. He remembered Ronan Leon, a man with a habit of kidnapping teenage girls with blonde hair and hazel eyes. He tortured, raped and then sliced his victims. He had killed at least eleven before the Shadow Crawlers ended him for good. Ronan was a human and Asher wondered how much worse a human could be when compared to the supernaturals to commonly coined as monsters. “Alright, stop whining like a puppy and I will take it.” Asher climbed into the driver’s seat.

What ER? I tried to call his name, but my thoughts were tangled, thick as if my skull had been filled with lead. "Must we do this, Mr. Terrason? Your wife is…" The man hesitated. I sensed the unease in his voice. "Just proceed as planned. No questions." I couldn't breathe. Something was crushing my chest. What was Samuel talking about? What plan? The air reeked of antiseptic. I was on a hospital bed, harsh lights stabbing through my closed eyelids.

She jumped to reach it and almost slipped to fall, fortunately, there was a hand holding her back and thwarted her from falling. “Thank you!” Sonya smiled at the man who helped her to get the book.
