Trusting Atlas felt natural now in a way I couldn’t fully explain, but trusting all of this… trusting what it might mean if I was right… that was different. So I stayed quiet and listened. “What are you thinking about?” Calyx’s voice pulled me back immediately. I blinked and looked up to find all four of them watching me. Atlas’s hand tightened slightly against my waist. “I was just thinking about some stories my mother used to tell me,” I admitted carefully. Zeke leaned back slightly in his chair. “What kind of stories?” “Mostly old myths,” I said. “Ancient creatures. Warnings. Things that supposedly hunted supernatural bloodlines.”

I am afraid but I must fuel my curiosity. My fingers trail over books as I use my eyes to search. “History of the Great Wars. Wolf-Clan Genealogies.” Useless!! In a corner, I find a smaller shelf with older, cracked bindings. One title stands out: Creatures of Myth and Scarcity. I pull it free, coughing at the plume of dust, and sink to the floor in a pool of blue velvet. I open it. Swan Mythology. It is exactly what I am looking for.

“Do you like fantasy?” “Like dragons and Lord of the Rings stuff? No. I don’t think of the Greek gods as fantasy. I think of them as history.” He looked surprised. “So, you believe in it all?” I shrugged. “I don’t know that I don’t believe in it. I think you have to wonder where the stories came from. Every myth stems from something. What sparked the stories? And it is so elaborate. It would have taken a mastermind to just make up this whole world of people and give them each a story.”

The class erupts in laughter. "Hardly." He turns and writes Gilgamesh. "Here, we have the earliest recording in the written word of a werewolf. I squirm in my chair, itching to open the textbook and take a peek. Greek myths had fascinated me last year, but I didn't recall this story.

’ He sniffled. ‘Maybe I can find a way to fix that, too,’ I muttered, scanning the pages of an ancient, dusty book I’d found buried in Moon Chasm’s library. I didn’t find anything. There were old fairy tales, so old they barely seemed recognisable anymore, that spoke of affronted gods casting down their children and making the first wolves. Some were classic tales, like the one about three pups going too near a river and being turned into toads to save them from drowning; others were cautionary tales, warning young wolves away from humans and forbidding any sort of romances between us and them – all in a fun, rhyming sort of way, of course.

She asked. “Um, it can be any myth, right? Anything?” I asked her to make sure. “Any myth can work but it should be mainly from Romans or Greeks” She cleared that for me. “Got it…” I said and leaned back smiling because I already had something in my mind.

Ensure told, Wren and Luna were horror struck, including Stare and Eye. The stories about Dragons, Immortals, Mystical gods and even the most scariest of all, the Beast in the bottomless hole can't be true because they were known to be a myth or written and said in fables but how come the four Humanes of short statutes talked about one of them, the most scariest of all. The reason why Stare and Eye were surprised also was they could not actually see each others' potency, like the past doesn't know the present, the present doesn't know the future whereas the future does know it all but not the beginning and end of time.

" At the academy, students learned about gods, goddesses, warriors, myths, magic, and monsters from every culture in the world-Greek, Norse, Roman, Japanese, Chinese, Native American, Egyptian, Indian, Russian, Irish, African, and al the others out there. I supposed it made sense there would be other branches, other schools, located throughout the world.

Instead, because rationality had been quietly losing ground for days, I heard myself say, “Folklore.” Judith’s brows rose just slightly. “Local?” “And… broader.” I tried to sound casual. “Wolf myths. Shape shifter stories. That sort of thing.” Judith did not laugh. That, somehow, was worse. She only nodded and came around the desk. “Back left corner. Mythology, regional legends, comparative folklore. We also have some fiction if you want the less academic versions.” Less academic versions. Like I was shopping for bedtime stories instead of trying to decide whether my life had cracked open into impossibility.
