Travian staggered toward him, blood painting his face and arms, and wrapped his hands around Soren’s trembling shoulders before he lost himself completely. His grip steadied, grounding. With one swift move, he wrenched the pipe from Soren’s hands and hurled it into the shadows. Together they turned, standing over Dain as he crumpled against the stones, his arrogance stripped bare, coughing, his blood mixing with the storm.
The stranger stepped forward, raising his gun. His finger hovered on the trigger, cold and ready to deliver the final word. But Soren’s hand shot out, his voice unshaken this time.
