Chapter 14: **** The morning after the Global Trade Summit should have been quiet. It wasn’t. I woke before sunrise. The house was still, but my mind was racing. Adrian was still sleeping, one arm thrown over the empty space I’d just left. I watched him for a minute, then slipped out of bed. I walked barefoot to the kitchen, poured black coffee, and stood by the window. The city was waking up. So was the war. Few minutes later,my phone vibrated on the counter. It was an unknown number.

As the words fell, he raised a hand to signal his bodyguards to seize me, and several muzzles edged a step closer, trained on my skull. Karina stood to the side, satisfaction written on her face. Eli stood at the door of the box across the way, an indescribable panic churning in his eyes. My hand tightened slightly around the gun, and just as I made to raise it and strike back, every light in the entire castle went out at once. Only a single cold-white spotlight above the auction stage rose slowly to life, falling on the main entrance to the hall. A tall, upright silhouette walked in at an unhurried pace.

His attire consisted of a long red and black flannel shirt, black jeans, and black boots. Following him with her gaze, Dawn asked, “Who are you?” In response, the man stated, "I'm Logan Winchester, and we're mates." Disbelief washed over Dawn as she recalled others' assurances of an immediate connection with their mate; yet, she felt nothing for this man. Devoid of sparks or any scent, there was no connection at all; she felt extremely uncomfortable around this stranger and knew she had to distance herself from him. "There's no connection between us, I think there's been some sort of mistake," Dawn replied, indicating a lack of friendship.

" She hung up quickly and ran back to the bar and couldn't find Theo, she tried calling him but his number wasn't going through, so she decided to let it go and rushed out. Finally, the stranger stopped. They reached a clearing. Daniel was standing in the center. His hands were glowing. A circle of white light surrounded him. Luna rushed forward. "Daniel!" He looked up. "Luna." She ran toward him. The stranger raised his hand. A barrier appeared between them. Luna hit it. "Let me through!" Daniel shouted: "Don't!" She turned toward him. "What's happening?" Daniel looked at the stranger. "He's trying to wake it." "What?" "The First Light."

The girl beside me was up and off to the door in seconds without even looking back at me. “Damon! You have a visitor” Dawn was almost shouting as she opened the door for her brother. “Hmm?” He hummed out in uncertainty. I can feel them approaching. “I said you've got a visitor waiting on you inside” she giddily informed once more. “Dawn, you've got a stranger inside?” His voice was rising but still leveled in rising annoyance. “Is it the balding big man again?” He was almost rushing in already. “No. Not him this time around.”

The plates are all broken, the table overturned and pieces of broken glasses are splattered all around the room. I took a step backward, reality sinking in but decided to ignore it and just walk out of the door, my stomach growling in hunger. I'm not a fan of breakfast anyway. I told myself. I took my time as I walked going to school. My supposed to be happy mood turned sour once I took sight of the reason why I had the opportunity of meeting the stranger. "Good morning, stranger." A voice greeted me, I looked up at the person and there he was, smiling under the morning sun. "How's your sleep?"

Soon, hell shall rise; the dawn of darkness approaches." Then, it vanished in a cloud of smoke, leaving all of us coughing. Noah was yelling, "Moros, you coward! Face me!"

What the hell was this uncle telling him to dance with strangers. "But uncle I'm waiting for Daddy .." Aiora's words were interrupted because Ellthan held out his hand. "Dance with me miss?"
