Brian continued in a serious tone, staring at the door frame of the bathroom. “I got her blood sample.” Xander furrowed his brows in confusion. "This is not just about Xyla, Xander. This is also about her future pups, and now I can say that about your future pups." Xander stopped rinsing soap from his body and snapped his head in Brian's direction, his eyes narrowed dangerously.

"Aubrey? Is that a mermaid?" A small, high-pitched voice drifted from the living room. I looked up to see a boy who looked like a miniature, more mischievous version of Brendan. This was Xavier. He was holding a handheld game console, his eyes wide with curiosity as he took in my bedraggled state. Beside him, a massive, shaggy Golden Retriever, Buster, thumped his tail against the floor before trotting over to sniff my wet hem. "Xavier, go get a towel from the linen closet, quickly," Brendan commanded gently, never letting go of my arm.

I wait for the hammer to come down. Nothing happens. "You know, with Kylie working on this, you don't even need me. I'll just slow her down." Stu closes his laptop and stands up. The sound of a gun cocking makes both of us freeze. BA–who, by now, I believe must be Mr. X– holds the muzzle of a pistol to side of Stu's head. "Are you sure you want me to believe we don't need you?" His icy tone sends shivers up my spine.

Why do I have to be called the ‘stutter boy’ when I actually have a name? Only a few people in my previous high school knew my real name. I was like a toy to all those bullies in school, who would call me 'hey stutter boy, c'mere. Go buy us a soda and some snacks from the vending machine' or 'stutter boy, have you finished the assignment I gave you yesterday?' or 'M..m..mi..michael..w..w..what's up?'

*Axel* Dr. Sari steps out of the room across from where we are waiting and freezes. After glancing down the empty hallway, she clears her throat, causing Billy to jump up and anxiously wring his hands out. Billy has always been a worrywart. He does an excellent job hiding it behind his grumpy exterior, but the moment you break through those grumbles and scowls, he is gentle and truly caring. “Billy,” Dr. Sari starts. Jeremy watched Bethany, she looked strong but that wasn't real. He felt stung, wishing he could do something but somehow, he preferred to stay aside.

I wince in pain and recoiled myself in a ball on the floor. “What you looking at, funny glasses?” He sneered looking at me. “Am-am sorry Tyler” I begged justabove a whisper tears rolling down my checks. “Shut up!” “And let me not hear you mention my name again” I nodded fast looking away while he smirked walking into the class.

Liam’s POV Billy kept darting off ahead of me, and I had to keep calling him back. “Billy, not so far ahead,” I called out to him, but I smiled while I said it. I was taking Billy out hunting. He’d been raised in the human world, but now that he was here, in my pack, I wanted to expose him to all the things our young male pups did. And hunting was one of those things. Trista had balked when I first asked her.

It was weird enough for me to live out of the house. After school Wells saw Xylon standing at the gate with his hands tucked in his pants pockets. Looking at him with same intense gaze. I should quickly walk away. Wells thought and quickened his steps. Xylon stood in front of him and he came to an abrupt halt. He looked up at Xylon timidly who was a lot taller than him. “Get into the car,” Xylon deep low voice was commanding. Wells looked to the side and noticed the bullies gathered near the gate away from them.

"Once he obtains the jade pendant, we'll snatch it from him and deal with him then." Billy's lips curled into a sinister smile. "I'll make sure he understands true despair!" His tone was laced with a disturbing satisfaction, eager to indulge in his own dark pleasures. "No..." Lucas began to voice his concern but was interrupted by Xylon, who shook his head slightly. Having collaborated with Billy for many years, they were well aware of his character. Billy, capricious and vengeful, was notorious for ignoring others' advice. Alexander, catching the murmured exchange, called out sharply, "If you want to fight, come down and face me, old man."
