Chapter 62 It was at this point in my life that I really came to the literal understanding of the expression 'Stuck between a rock and a hard place'. I had never been so confused on what decision to make all my life. I have had some times where I was at crossroads but nothing could compete with this. I didn't know what to do. A part of me stuck with my decision to not drop everything I care about but there was also this part that replayed everything Chris had said to me that afternoon.

THE sound of machines whirring has been bothering Hailey for months. The place she has been living in Manila, or the studio that she rented in which she can pay with her monthly income, is between an electronic shop and a welding shop. She opened her eyes and let out a deep sigh, she wants to find a new place but the rents are twice her income in a month, she would be under a lot of debt if she starts being picky. Her life was stable for someone who just started working two months ago, she could not ask for more aside from peace during her off from work and not hear machines or whatever the shop owner uses that makes a lot of noise.

Desperately, my gaze ricocheted between two disasters waiting to happen: the jackal still thrashing in the waterfall like it was rehearsing for a disaster movie nobody wanted tickets to, and the towering man now blocking the cave entrance like a bouncer at the world’s worst nightclub. His statement infuriates her and she launches with the stick straight at him, but this time around he holds the stick and spun her around, with the stick in her hands, now close to her throat as he holds her in place. "There, there, easy there. Steady".

How would I end this face? I smiled as I put my hands in my pockets. "You're up" I said and she scrunched her face. "And you're insane" She snapped and I smirked and bit my lip. Fuck, she was sexy when she was mad. "Feisty" I said and carried the rocking chair that was in a corner of the room to sit in front of her. I sat down and crossed my legs and stared at her with a smirk on my face as I rocked back and forth.

Then adds with a sigh, "Talking about helping, you would need to go find her and apologize. Right this second. It is best to deal with the anger now than later. It grows like cancer that would destroy you if you don't handle it now. " The idea of meeting Scarlet Rossi now, when she doesn't wish to see me has a knot tightening in my stomach. It is confusing how I've met scarier women, chaotic ones that made it clear how destructive they were, and one just has to express her disapproval of me and I can't seem to find it in me to talk to her.

“And yet everything did.” She turned to face him. “This place is where I decided to leave.” His brow furrowed. “What?” “I came here the night before I left. Sat right there.” She pointed at the flat rock near the edge. “And I told myself if I didn’t go, I’d never become anyone else. I didn’t want to be just someone’s girlfriend.” His voice was quiet. “You didn’t have to choose between being mine and being you.” “I didn’t know that then.”

Something dangerous. Something that could tear everything apart.
