Then I ran outside and took to the skies. I recognized Salem’s coach from its livery, and followed until it reached the train station. I watched from above as Salem boarded a train. I decided to follow the train from above, keeping my distance so that Salem wouldn’t smell me. The train left the city and snaked into the countryside. At each stop, I watched as the passengers departed, seeing if Salem was among them. The journey went on and on, until I was sure that hours had passed. I worried I had somehow missed him, but checking the windows was too great a risk. To rest my wings, I landed on top of the train. Eventually, we stopped at a station identified as Dartmoor.

The people around them loaded crates, cots, solar panels, tools, and other equipment up on the train until there was hardly any room at all. "Load up!" Britta called out once everything was packed tightly. Every person scrambled up the stairs and wove themselves in with the stuff.
