He was like a light to me, leading me to a place or atmosphere I hadn't experienced since the misfortune happened. When I was with him, no day wasn't fun or at least new to me. He's really sincere, and I feel like I've been given the right partner to accompany my life for the next few years. I even changed my decision not to have a relationship with anyone because of him.

I had already come to terms with that. I knew that being with him would bring complications. I wouldn’t have marked him if it hadn't been for the heat. The conversation we had before all the chaos in the cave was definitely not a serious discussion about our relationship. I never promised that I would be with him—just that I would be his friend. He wanted me to be part of his life, even if I found happiness with someone else. But now, that possibility was gone. We were completely bonded, and we would both know if either of us had someone else. I had no choice but to deal with this or be alone.

I stared at it until my vision warped and the paper blurred into nothing. Sometimes I wonder—what if? What if he hadn’t taken the money? What if I’d found him first? What if I’d told my father to go to hell and walked away from all of it? Could we have made it work? Could we have started over somewhere far away, where no one cared about last names and inheritance and reputation? Where it was just him and me?

Because no matter what came, I had him. And he had me.

"You heard?” "Yes, I have been standing here long enough to hear everything I need to.” "And you still chose to come over here?” His expression does not falter, holding me captive in that steady gaze of his. "You looked like you needed someone by your side.” That did it, the tears that I had been fighting so desperately finally escaped. “What…if…they're…right…?” My voice cracks in each word. "What if…what if…I did something terrible in the past and…already forgot."
