Three days passed, and I realised I wasn't getting anywhere with my plans or brain. By the end of the day, I only got stares from my pack members who got the news (lie) from Ash and a sleepless night in Everleigh's room. Her memories kept on haunting me, but that didn't stop me from sleeping in her room either. I stared at the pearl necklace in my hands. I could see two missing pearls in it.

Pearl untied the leather cord securing the reports and began reading. Maps. Scout observations. Travel routes. Nothing unusual. Then she found a folded page tucked between two reports. Her brow furrowed. This wasn't official documentation. The handwriting was rushed. Uneven. As though whoever wrote it had been in a hurry. Pearl unfolded the page and began reading. The journal belonged to one of the missing scouts. The first few entries described the journey. The ruins. The symbols. Nothing alarming. Then the final entry began. Pearl's expression slowly changed as she read.

The shop owner, a middle-aged man with calculating eyes, assessed me cautiously. "What can I do for you, young man?" I produced one small pearl from William's "gift" and placed it on the counter. "How much?" He examined it critically, holding it up to the light. "Imperfect luster, slight discoloration...forty dollars." "Fifty," I countered firmly. His eyebrows rose at my boldness. "Forty-five." "Fifty," I repeated, making to retrieve the pearl. "Or I'll try elsewhere." He chuckled. "You drive a hard bargain, boy. Fifty it is."

*Pearl's room* Pearl hugged herself still scared of the incident that happened earlier. Crimson pushed the door and knocked. "Pearl, are you in there?" Crimson asked, pearl didn't reply. Crimson walked in and saw her hugging herself with her teddy. "Baby, can I speak with you please?" Crimson asked. Pearl dropped her Teddy. "I'm so sorry Momma, I didn't know it was wrong to read that book, believe me." Pearl answered.

Breathing heavily, he tried to calm himself. “Uncle, the pearl’s power also gives you the chance to find her!” Alina insisted. “I think it’s trying to tell you where she is! All you gotta do is concentrate and listen to what the pearl is trying to tell you.” “This is crazy!” Jason gritted. “Please, just trust me!” the little girl begged. “Just once. You don’t have to believe me but just try it once. It’s the only way to find her! Please!”

For some reason, he felt that something was off… Regardless, the old man quickly began mumbling excitedly to himself as he walked over to a lone corner to admire the pearl… While his behavior was slightly odd, Gerald and Ray simply exchanged glances with one another. Whatever the case was, their mission was complete now that they had obtained the pearl. With that in mind, it meant that it was high time they finally left this horrible place… With that, Gerald then said, “…Alright, since we’ve got what we wanted, let’s hurry and leave this place already!”

We all turned to see Pearl walking towards us. “Pearl we had a deal, why did you go back on your word?”. I asked Pearl as she arrived. "Am I the only one that has gone back on my word?”. She asked. “What do you mean? I gave you the poison that you needed, so what else do you want?" I asked Pearl who gave me a scornful look. “Yes, you gave me the poison but that hasn't sorted out my problem. I have come to realize that you are the solution to my problem right now".

His anger welled up in his chest. Pearl frowned and answered, "Well, I know that he was an asshole. I mean, everybody knows that... right?" Vergel agreed. A line creased hard through Pearl’s brow as she tried to make sense of the man before her. Someone sent the three of them here to retrieve something he recently lost... an odd feeling twisted through her stomach. Damn it. Does her father know she was here all along, hiding in plain sight? Fuck... She hoped not. "I’ve lived here for a while; what are you searching for?"

I glanced at the stone at the foot of Black Shadow, finally realizing that the glowing object was the pearl that I was looking for, the missing pearl. I smiled smugly and went outside to pick up the pearl. Seeing me leisurely bring the pearl inside, all the people in the room turned their gazes on me, a somewhat jealous and angry gesture. These ladies are also very weird. They saw me find Mrs. Luna's pearl, but they were not happy and angry instead. Maybe they were only satisfied to see me being slapped until my face swelled up. Putting the lost pearl back in the box, I curled my lips and smiled: "Is this enough, Alex?"

The woman suddenly pushed me until I sprawled to the ground. When I looked up, the woman was nowhere to be found already. The only thing that was with me was the thing that was on my palm. It was a pearl a size of a cherry. I widened my eyes at the sight of it. It's rare to see a pearl in this country and this little treasure would entirely save 5 families for 2 years to purchase food and shelter. My hands trembled and quickly closed my palm to safeguard the pearl. That was when I started my journey to finding Madame Margaret. That was when I experienced being bullied again.
