“Lily’s gone. Let her go.”

“I could go after her,” Atticus argued, his hands biting into the table’s edge.
Around it sat his parents, both eyeing him sombrely, his Beta, Ralphin, and his Gamma, Trove. His dad had called the meeting. Atticus thought it was beneath him to attend, summoned like a common Omega, but, at a loss about what to do otherwise, he’d sloped back into the pack house and slumped down in his chair. Sunlight streamed inside, crisp with the bite of early autumn air, but to Atticus everything was cast in shadow, left colourless in the wake of his losing Lily - again.
