she muttered, eyes fixed on the bloated hands floating just beneath the surface, “when too much blood hits the water at once, the ocean remembers. And when summer burns hot enough... it comes back to drink again.” A silence fell over the circle. Out in the cove, the black water rippled. No wind. And somewhere beneath it, something shifted. [Present Day] Ashford Cove High School, behind the gym The bell had rung five minutes ago, but Sarah and Jake were still leaning against the brick wall where the cameras didn’t reach. Jake was trying to keep his voice casual. “So you’re telling me the thing in the cove… it’s not just some local ghost story?”

Kennedy POV. The weather was bad, but I needed to get that new book, it's Robert birthday gift, who'd knew a grown up man would kill for the newest werewolf love book. I got into my car, drove carefully toward the local book store, they had the new book reserved for me. It was supposed to one quick drive, until I walked into the library. A girl was sitting on a bean bag, her blond hair was covering her eyes with overgrown bangs, she tried to huff them away from her face but to no use. She looked young, maybe she's just here with her parents, looking down at the book she had in her hands it was a kids story. Does she read for the local kids? Or is it just for her?

It will be the first time we have actually got to spend any quality time with Summer, since finding out she was our mate. Before they left, we asked the kids for a few ideas about what Summer liked. They know her best after all. They unanimously told us she loved picnics and frequently took them to the most beautiful little stream. It was their special place, which no one knew about. They also told us she always takes a chocolate cake, and it always gets eaten. On their way home, they always pick the most beautiful colorful flowers which Summer always puts in their kitchen.

The head of the orphanage found me in the middle of the scorching summer, which was why he named me Theros Sommar. When Daisy learned of it, she then said that moving forward, the summer solstice every year would be my birthday. She then prepared birthday gifts for me and even baked a birthday cake for me to celebrate. Ever since my gastric bleeding the other day, she had forbidden me from drinking again. But the mood back then had been just right, so I pestered her until she gave in and allowed me to drink some red wine. One thing led to another, and that night, she finally gave herself wholly to me.

The Kingdom of Summer celebrated the Summer Solstice, thanking the Mother for the long days, as the sun shone more and more, and the people sacrificed two days of their lives to dance, celebrate, and honor the Mother. The Kingdom of Autumn celebrated Autumn Day at the end of October, illuminating their kingdom with lanterns depicting the Mother, offering a large amount of crops, and presenting the softest, most finely made blankets. The Kingdom of Spring celebrated Spring Day in late March, where the king used his powers to make everything bloom abundantly, offering a lamb and a large oak tree as signs of their gratitude. I closed the book and sat up. My head couldn’t take in any more inform

What do normal people do when they come to Crete for a summer vacation? They probably post photos on I*******m with captions like "Sun, sea, sand #blessed," sip ouzo in the evenings, smash plates, and just soak up that effortless island vibe. And what am I doing? I’m covering my ears with my hands, counting prime numbers backward in my head, and trying not to lose my absolute mind. I am in a literal marathon to stay sane.

Arya We only have a week left of being at the cabin before we need to go back to our real lives. My book is nearly done! Which is amazing! It usually takes me longer to write, but I think this one was easier because of the experiences I’ve had this summer.

Summer picked up the book she left in the living room and she walked back to the kitchen to sit with Spring, as Ruby made lunch. She would be going out soon because it was her birthday tomorrow, and she was planning to get some things to prepare for it. “Stop pulling that, Spring. Leave your sister alone.” She said when she saw Spring pulling at Summer’s book. He loved to pick on her sometimes like that, but she was always there to stop him. Spring laughed. "I was just messing with her, but she's a crybaby.” He said as Summer’s eyes started to water with tears.

Natasha The final bell rings and kids squeal as they push the front doors open and race to the freedom that summer break brings. “Bye, Ms. Knight. What are you doing this summer?” Sarah, one of my avid readers asks as she walks slowly toward the door. “I’ll be reading. What else?” I tell her. “And actually, if you're interested, the library has summer reading group Wednsdays at noon. So come see me.” I have a feeling she doesn't have the greatest home life, or social life for that matter. I wonder if she has many friends.
