I probably look crazy to anyone looking at me, but I can’t wipe the smile from my face as I look around. I swallow back happy tears as I think back to the beginning of the summer. My only friend was Charlotte. I worked all the time and didn’t know what it was like to find a family outside of my own. My eyes skirt over the people that I’ve gotten to know as summer passed by. Some I’m closer with than others, but they’re all people who contributed to the best summer of my life. A crescent moon had begun to rise above the western spire. Then the trumpets sounded. Caelan appeared first. He wore full ceremonial armor, burnished black and trimmed in crimson. His crown sat heavy on his brow. He looked every bit the Alpha King—distant, cold, powerful. He didn’t look at her. And then Seraphina. She was radiant. A gown of ivory and moon-silk clung to her, shimmering with spells. Her hair fell in gold waves, crowned with white flame orchids. Her smile was perfect, her step light.

Summer had chosen a far more exciting outfit which included a tiny strapless blue dress with cutouts on the side and matching blue stilettos. A knock on the door signaled it was eight. “That must be Arie and Leah!” Summer squealed. She opened the door to find not just Arie and Leah, but Alpha Marcus and Darren as well. First of all, they had completely different personalities. Kelly Williams was outgoing and lively. She might even act a bit crazy sometimes. To a certain extent, her personality resembled Summer's. According to the information Summer had gathered, Hailey was an elegant, refined, and friendly woman who was attentive toward the people around her. She was practically the perfect woman. The contrast between the two was striking. However, Summer wasn't implying that Kelly was lacking in any way. Hailey was just too perfect—even women would find her attractive, too.

Summer confessed as she wrapped me in a tight embrace, her voice trembling with sentiment. "Hey, don't say things like that. The idea of you even considering such a thing is absurd.
