Summer Reading For Adults Novels & Stories

Things were going to be very tight from July through September, and I was going to have a crew of very unhappy teenagers on my hands. The summer months were the ones the kids looked forward to the most. All of a sudden all the activities weren’t reduced to only being indoors. They had free reign of the yard out back where, admittedly, there was still a lot of work to be done, but where they were free to split into small groups or sit in solitude in the shade with one of the books from the library I’d built last year. The shelter had some connections to local libraries and used book stores that often donated some of their duplicates to my inventory.

Breathing in and out, I counted out. “One. Two. Three. Four.” My mind wandered off, thinking about the Summer Festival that we would throw this year. We brought in a lot of money last year and we were wholly unprepared for just how many people wanted to come to our little town. This year we had ramped up our preparedness, but we also were thinking about running some ad campaigns for the daily activities that people could join if they were in the area. We also set up a specific summer camping area. “Fifty one. Fifty-two. Fifty-three. Fifty-four.”

It's not a life I can even imagine. After a shower in my own bathroom, I am refreshed and ready to face the week ahead. I have a summer reading group starting tomorrow at the local library. Summer reading group is one of the two main projects I take on each year. The other is the fall reading festival. Both are fun, but neither have resulted in attendance that justifies the time I spend on them so my district wont support the projects and I have to do them on my own time. Last summer we had four kids total and the fall was little better with six kids attending. I’m not sure what else I could do to increase attendance. I'm already offering free snacks and books. Oh, well, I’m not sure

As summer arrived, the Bloodmoon and Silverpine Packs embraced the warmth and vibrancy of the season. The air was filled with the sounds of laughter, the rustle of leaves, and the distant calls of birds. With the success of their earlier workshops still fresh in their minds, Leo and Elara planned a series of summer activities designed to celebrate their growing bond and enhance their skills together. The first summer event was a “Nature Olympics,” a friendly competition that would include various challenges and games inspired by the natural world. Leo and Elara wanted to create an atmosphere of fun and teamwork, where everyone could showcase their abilities while encouraging one another.

For both adults and kids, it was in fact a lot of fun. The local swimming pool was the usual place for people to go to cool off in the middle of the summer when the heat was at its peak. That day was not particularly hot. Usually, the moment one steps outside, they feel the heat and begin to perspire. One could feel the heat of the sun trying to make their skin red due to its intense heat.

I shudder at the thought of feeling constantly judged by teenagers every day. “Nah.” She laughs. “You just have to know how to handle them. Most of the time they laugh and think I’m being super corny when I try to be cool. Sometimes, though, they can be little shits. I won’t lie. So are you doing tutoring this summer again or summer school?” Every summer we usually pick one or the other, either tutor privately or teach summer school in our district. It’s not exactly like you make enough teaching at a public school to get by. Most of us have summer jobs to make ends meet.

Bethany's expression froze, the joy in her eyes vanishing as sheer panic took its place. The terror she felt was laid bare in front of Mitchell, and in that moment, it looked almost comical. Though it was the height of summer, Bethany felt a chill crawl over her skin, a chill that had nothing to do with the weather. She had already experienced the madness that Mitchell could descend into for Heather's sake, twice now, and the fear of reliving it a third time made her stomach turn.

"Is she a kid? Our baby girl is already an adult!" Luke sighed helplessly. The three of them entered one after another. Summer shut the door behind them, feeling doomed. Ever since her rebirth, she had faced many intense situations. Yet, it was the first time she felt like the world was about to end. "Are all these the books you've been studying every day?" Kristen glanced at the towering piles of textbooks and workbooks on her desk. "Yep!" Summer nodded as she poured some water for them. With her back turned to them, her eyes were glued toward her bedroom.

I still didn't get why they liked him. He was handsome, but well… I couldn’t quite get it. Maybe because he was my brother. Summer break was getting close in California, and there was something about the way the sun made everything smell that I loved. I had decided to spend June at my elder brother’s apartment before I resumed college. My brother, Davis, had moved out when he was nineteen and had been living alone ever since he started college. He was pissed off when I told him I was coming over, but what could he do to me?

Nobody is going to come to me. Talking about me, my name is Theodore Reigns. I'm 16, about to enter Junior year in two months when the school reopens after summer break. But to be honest, right now I think it's highly unlikely cause I'm here attending this three day Art camp for next year's senior students, that too in disguise as Elena Griffin, Eastwood's best artist, and so if I get caught, I guess I won't have to go to school again.
