“Old women here still call it by name. Tidewalker. They say it remembers blood. And it remembers when to come back.” A gust of hot wind rolled through the parking lot, carrying the smell of the ocean. Even a mile inland, it stung like salt. Jake swallowed. “And it’s a heatwave this week.” Sarah didn’t answer. She didn’t need to. The forecast on his phone said 98°F by Thursday. Across the lot, the cove glimmered under the sun. Too still. Too quiet. Suddenly there was an outburst, a good number of students hurrying out of school, all of them moving in one direction toward the lower fields. Voices overlapped — half questions, half panic.

Evan Shaw was famous for sticking to his principles. He was punctual, followed every rule, and never made exceptions. Yet when it came to going to City Hall to get married to Roxie Foster, he had stood her up eight times. The first time, his former underclassman, Sylvia Young, was returning after eight years abroad, and he had to pick her up from the airport. The second time, Sylvia accidentally burned her finger while cooking. The third time, Sylvia's son got sick. ... This was the eighth time. Once again, Evan didn't show up. He only called in a hurry and said, "Something came up. I'll be there." Roxie watched their number get skipped again and again until the clerk behind the window tappe

Mandy York, my girlfriend, was practically a migratory bird that always flew away during summer. Every year, during July and August, which were the hottest months of the year, she would fly off and disappear from the face of the earth. She said that it was because her company gave her a special project abroad that required absolute secrecy from her. She was also not to contact anyone during that period of time. Even when I got into a car accident last year and lay in the ICU for two months, she never called to ask about me. Plenty of times, I had comforted myself and endured the harsh summer alone. One day, I accidentally saw the social media account of a friend of mine living abro

"O-Of course. We're friends." Satisfied with my response, Bethany finally let go of my arm and followed me inside. I opened the door, but the office was pitch-black. "Dad, these are the friends I mentioned, the ones coming to work here for the summer," I said cautiously. Before I could introduce them, they pushed past me and crowded into the room. "Hello, Mr. Parker. We're here for the summer jobs. May I know what the pay is like? Is ten thousand dollars a month okay? Oh, and I'm not really into factory work. Can I get an office job instead?"

After Summer had left for England, She arrived the university and was assisted to her dorm room. She shared a room with a New Yorker named Octavia. They were in the same faculty and in turn became friends. Leo, William, Drake and Stephanie also left for college. During the Holidays they would all return home. Summer didn’t associate with them much because she was beyond busy, any little opportunity she gets she put it into her business. The only time she was spotted was on Sandra’s wedding day and the naming ceremony for Sandra’s baby.

The reasons that were out of love and care suddenly sounded disgusting and shameless! She would not be Yvette if she just let things slide! The morning after... The summer season was transitioning to fall, so there was a huge difference in the weather. The fall wind was piercing, and the rain would always be heavy and long. It was the perfect weather to curl up in bed and be unproductive. The three people in the apartment were still in dreamland. Mark was sleeping on the left side, and Summer was sleeping on the right with Charlotte snuggled between them. It was already half-past eight.

he says. The rain outside is bad and I scrunch my nose up, standing from behind my desk, checking the Caller ID, making sure that I've got the name correct. "What's going on, Gunner? where is Summer? what happened?" I demand and walk towards the floor-to-ceiling window of my office, looking out at the city. "Summer has broken a fever, she is weak and only mumbles your name. Do you think you can come over?" he demands. My heart leaps with joy and the excitement covers me as I am eager to know what is going on.

I also began going to the underground fight club more often than I used to. Whenever I visited Summer, I covered my bruises. She barely looked at me long enough to notice them. Mostly, she stared at nothing, trembling whenever I tried to touch her. It had been three weeks since she and her family moved out of Saunterville. I had planned to stay away, like Edward wanted me to. But one day, I went back. I noticed Summer’s curtains weren’t drawn as usual, and the window was open. I climbed the tree into her room, only to find it empty.

“Sorry, but we don't have time for this, Nathan you and Noah have to set up the barbecue. Liam, you go and bring in the bags from your car. Quinn, you go get a shower, and I’ll pick out an outfit for you. Summer gave up all our instructions then clapped her hands when we didn't all move fast enough. I ran up the stairs and into the shower, and I couldn't help thinking about how the last time I was in this shower, I was terrified to meet my mate, thinking it was Xavier, and now I could be wait to mate and mark with him. After my shower, I dried my hair and walked back to my room, well, the guest room. I‘m assuming I will be moving into Nathan’s room at some point, finding Summer flinging clot

Off he go to save Germa just like what he promise to Ruscov. But it only lead to such disappointment. “Sir! What are you doing here?” Summer calls the moment his eyes drifted across to Reed’s familiar figure, his tall frame that had gotten the latter’s attention immediately. He runs to where he is, but Reed did not even glance at him. Summer had just finished wrapping the police tape around. It is to keep the civilians out of harm, if some circumstances happen.
