He did not let go. “This is not my mother,” he said through his teeth. The thread turned grey in his hand. The scream stopped. A burst of silver light flashed from his wrist, not strong enough to reveal everything, but strong enough to burn the red threads into ash. The cloaked figures staggered back. The silver flame at the shrine entrance bent low as if bowing to him. Alexander almost fell, but Caleb caught him against his chest. For a few breaths, no one moved. Then Rowan pointed at Alexander, his voice no longer calm. “You saw it. You all saw it. That power is dangerous.”

Calhoun glared daggers at Alexander who didn't say much and left to meet Davian who was eating with Artemis, Xavier and Gregory his loyal guard. "I'm your mate's father, you should respect me!" Calhoun was furious about not seeing Sara now, Alexander was fuming. "I respect only the late Alpha who was cruelly killed by your general." Said Alexander as he said something to Davian and went upstairs. Calhoun sat angrily on one of the couches with a sullen expression on his face. He was still wondering how a she-wolf got a werecat as a mate.

Alpha Calvin, paced around his room again. he'd been doing that alot since his mate got kidnapped. he was meant to be happy now that she was found, but he felt uneasy. what did his dirtbag of a brother do to her? why couldn't she remember him? he was about to go to the beta's domain to meet his brother because the omega wolf he sent to him never came back. but before he could do that, he already heard the news of Alexis, his mate's return.

then again, why would Alejandro's victim seek audience as regards his life? Alejandro, on the other hand, did not seem quite as pleased to see her. Of course, Caleb had made sure to show her the man on whose behalf she had interrupted his travel, just so he could confirm her story. Caleb couldn't recall seeing Alejandro as rattled as he became, when he noticed her presence. He needed no sorcerer to let him know that Alejandro did not want this woman's help, so, why was she so defiant in this task? Why was she so desperate to save him?

“They called him The Alternative Host.” A cold spike of fear pierced my spine. “I don’t what does that mean?” “It means,” Calla said, stepping closer, “if they can’t control you… they will take him.” My knees buckled. I pressed a hand to the damp wall to keep standing. “No… no, Alex isn’t part of this. He had nothing to do with Rebirth. He was never involved.” Calla’s expression softened for the first time. “That’s what makes him perfect,” she whispered. “He’s clean. Untouched. Powerful. Loyal to a fault. A man who would burn down the world for the woman he loves.”

The hall went quiet. Caleb kept reading. Each record stripped away another layer of Alexander’s pride. Every Blood Moon he had survived, every morning he had walked out looking strong, every training session where warriors praised his willpower, every council meeting where he stood like a future Alpha—my blood was behind all of it. Someone in the hall murmured, “So he’s been alive because of Scarlett?” Another voice answered, lower, “And he gave her cure to Victoria?” Sarah snapped, “Enough! Those are private records!”

“What did you do?” Ethan exhaled shakily. “I just killed the devil.” But even as he said it, I felt it — that wrongness in the air. That sense that something wasn’t over. Because Alexander’s body twitched once. Then again. And when his eyes opened, he smiled through the blood. “Did you really think,” he whispered, voice chillingly calm, “that I didn’t plan for this?”

The priest stepped out. His expression was solemn. “The Alpha is dead.” Marcus let out a broken growl. The other wolf lowered his head. The priest looked toward Calix. “His mate will live.” Calix’s eyes lifted slowly. “She carries his wolf now.” Rain hammered the roof above them. “But she has fallen into a coma.” Marcus covered his face with his hands. Calix stood motionless. Then he drew in a slow breath— And swallowed the tears threatening to fall.

The fact that he knew the party was for Alec’s mate, and he still came, brings forth something dark inside me. I was grateful for the truth, but there were still a lot of unanswered questions. I get if it were an alpha that had approached him. A lot of the alphas would benefit if Alec lost his mate and turned feral, but a woman? A strange woman who veiled her face. What would she benefit from? Unless she was a witch and was working for an alpha. There will be time to think things through later, when I’m alone. “Thank you,” I face Calvin.

A startled scream arose in my throat, but I quickly slapped my hands over my mouth and silenced it. “Calix?” His eyes flickered back to brown and a wicked smile curved his lips. “What was that?” I asked. “That was my Lycanthrope…his name is Gabriel,” Calix replied. “Gabriel?” I watched Calix’s eye fog for a split second. “Yes, and he just said he can’t wait to fill you up with his being.” The words sounded so good, stirring something deep and primal inside me. “Can I see him?” “Not now,” he said. “Now I want to have you all by myself,” he added, spinning me around.
