She was a scientist, she had studied the “Catalyst” her whole life. But seeing her daughter floating in the air, glowing with silver light, was more than any book could explain. “Faith, honey….come down,” Sarah whispered. She reached out a trembling hand. The pool healed you. You’re safe now. We can go. Faith finally turned her head. When her black gaze hit her mother, Sarah gasped and stumbled back. There was no warmth there. No recognition. It was like looking into a deep, dark ocean.

“That’s exactly what she wants. Fear.” Briggs sighed. “Sarah—” “She already confessed,” Sarah cut in. “Not last night. Days ago. When I went for that walk.” Briggs blinked. “Confessed?” “Yes.” Sarah leaned forward, her eyes burning. “She didn’t deny sending the first assassin. The one now rotting in police custody. I recorded it.” Briggs opened his mouth to respond but the sound of the front door opening interrupted him. Both of them turned. Scorpion walked in, his movements purposeful, his expression unreadable. He crossed the room without a word and stopped in front of Sarah.

Anderson's POV I was shocked when I arrived at the police station for questioning and found out that Sarah was arrested as a suspect in the murder case because she was the prime suspect in the three previous killings. She was smart not to mention her encounter with the three panther shifters in the alley. If she had, they would have locked her up for something she had nothing to do with—or at least, not entirely. The officer, Claire in her late thirties with sharp features, flipped through the case file. "Mr. Holt, you said you had an alibi for Mrs. Cole last night?"

“How do you know that?” Rowan shrugs. “I’ve stumbled upon a few other supernaturals over the past year. A lot of them are surprisingly chatty. Especially after they figure out that I’m a vampire.” He shrugs his bony shoulders. “There’s this angel that works at the blood bank that gives me blood bags when he can. He’s pretty cool. She saw Cassidy and Scott slowing, looking over their shoulders, wondering what the hell she was doing, so she kicked into gear. “I would but I’m a little busy not letting my team get killed right now.” The idea that this chick could accidentally shoot Zane and kill him came to mind. Bob agreed but he said that his magic type was body strengthening and that he was only at the base of it. Yman said that it was fine as long as he could block the monster's charge for once. Bob nodded. Next, he asked Chloe. She said that her magic was materializing a shockwave. And that she could only use it once daily, since like Bob, she was also at the base of it. Yman thought for a while and asked her about the impact. She replied saying that it could lift a van but not completely sure. He smiled and nodded. Mai also joined them, but Brai chose not to go.
