HIS PAST: HIS BRIDE
The tiny voice pulls me from my thoughts, I turn and find Suzy staring at me curiously, swinging side to side with her little backpack hanging from one shoulder.
“Oh, hello, Suzy. Where’s your mom? Are you here alone?” I ask immediately, every parental instinct activating at once.
“Yeah, I know where I know you from now, you’re Daren’s daddy,” she says instead, ignoring my question completely.
I sigh softly.
“Yeah, I’m Daren’s dad, and I really need you to answer my question.”
“Oh.” She points across the terminal. “My mommy brought us to see off my aunt, and they’re over there sorting stuff.”
