~Raven's POV~ A part of Raven had always been skeptical about the existence of the supernatural, dismissing it as nothing more than a figment of someone's imagination. However, recent events had shaken her to the core, leaving her with a sense of unease that refused to go away. Despite her reservations, Raven felt a strange pull towards the paranormal books on the table. It was as if something was drawing her towards them, urging her to explore the unknown and discover the truth for herself. She couldn't help but wonder what secrets these books held, and what mysteries they could uncover.

The day had been long and tiring, full of unexpected events. I bent over to set the alarm for tomorrow and reached for my book. I have been engrossed in a collection of traditional fairytales with a mafia spin. They were captivating, and I cherished the quiet moments when I could indulge in reading them. Stephanie Swann was one of my favourite authors, and I loved the worlds she created in her books, especially the morally ambiguous male characters and fierce female leads. After devouring three chapters, I glanced at the clock and sighed in disappointment, realizing I would have to wait until tomorrow to read more.

She wasn't trying to make an effort to look good, it doesn't matter anymore. She moved slowly, like her body was conserving whatever little energy her heart had left. On the bedside table sat the books she’d bought earlier. She reached for The Da Vinci Code, the familiar weight of it grounding her. Dan Brown had always had a hold on her. This would be her second time reading this particular book, and for some reason she was excited to just get lost in this book. A world where puzzles mattered more than people’s intentions. She climbed onto the bed, propped her back against the headboard, and began to read.

On the body of the case was a little note: FIGURED YOU’D LIKE THESE -X. My curiosity heightened as I tore open the case, and I gasped once I saw what was inside. Books- novels to be precise, all stacked neatly in the case. As I glanced through their titles, I noticed they were thrillers and horror genres, a bit of romance too. My toes curled in excitement and a grin spread across my face as I looked through all of them. I rolled my eyes. Of course, he’d figured I’d like them; he always figured everything about me.

Maybe I can read something to pass the time and occupy my mind for a bit. 0 I read through their titles and they definitely have a favorite genre. ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’, ‘Murder on the Orient Express’, ‘The Woman in White’, ‘The Maltese Falcon’. I sense a mystery theme here and I wonder if it’s Stefan or his wife that’s the fan. I keep looking when I see a book that is quite out of place. ‘What To Expect: A Mother’s Guide To Her First Pup’ 0

My thoughts kept drifting, pulling me away from the plot and back to the darker corners of my mind. The book was one of those suspenseful thrillers, full of secrets and betrayals, the kind of story that would normally have me hooked. But every twist on the page only reminded me of the real-life twists that had unfolded recently. Every deceit, every bit of violence written so neatly in these chapters felt uncomfortably close to home.

Sleep refused to come. My mind felt restless. Maybe there was something in this room that could help me remember. Slowly, I stood up. I began looking around. The bookshelf immediately caught my attention. Dozens of books filled the shelves. I pulled several out. There were history books, pack law books and training manuals. Then I noticed something else. There were fiction novels; thrillers, mysteries and crime novels. I blinked. Apparently, I enjoyed those. "I don't remember reading any of these."

I beamed. "Crazy, isn't it?" "Fucking crazy, for real." "First, we put THE DA VINCI CODE by DAN BROWN here." He picked out the book and inserted it in the center line of the shelf. He put HOW TO STOP TIME by MATT HAIG, followed by EVERGREEN by NAOMI HIRAHARA. "Then KISS THE GIRLS by JAMES PATTERSON." He put it next to the first book. "I've read that." I went on in a spur of excitement. "It's a thriller and mystery novel about a detective who's trying to track down a serial killer. So many twists and cliffhangers. Total page-turner." I giggled.
