I voiced our loud I got downstairs and discovered it was Sussie and Grace again. What could be the problem? Do they know each other from somewhere or what could be the reason they are shouting at each other? “ You got pregnant for who?” I heard Grace ask Sussie who was perfectly seated on the sofa. “ What's your problem with that? And how is it your business? Rachel being Lawson's wedded wife didn't complain, so I don't know why you are being dramatic here.” She said gently

“This meeting is adjourned for now.” I didn’t wait for Arzhel’s response. I saw Janna stand and follow me. “Call a meeting with every department. We will make adjustments to still meet the deadline,” I told her the moment we reached my office. I didn’t know what Arzhel was trying to do, but I already felt that something was wrong. I should have trusted my instinct when I first felt that his intention in offering me this business partnership was suspicious. He was very rich. The profit he would earn from our partnership was just nothing for him. So he wouldn’t waste time if he didn’t have a hidden agenda.

I exhaled sharply, my palms sweaty. “After a few discussions with my partner”—she gestured to the man beside her—“I've come to the decision that we won't be pursuing any further partnership with Mr. Lacrae. Your company is already facing bankruptcy, which you failed to disclose to us, along with numerous complaints from both customers and employees. Your proposal was so flawlessly perfect that it raised unrealistic expectations, making me suspect you were only trying to draw our attention to the juicy benefits”—she made air quotes—“and ignore the red flags. We don't appreciate such behavior.” Fuck!

My unease grew as I contemplated the true extent of his control over those around me, unsettlingly aware that I was navigating a complex web of hidden intentions and potential threats. As I grappled with my contemplation of his personal matters, I couldn't help but question my own curiosity. Why was I delving into his private affairs when I should be focusing solely on finding a way to escape this situation? My true goal was to uncover information that could aid my escape from this predicament. If he indeed had a partner, it would be advantageous for me to identify this individual, particularly if they were present during events or gatherings where I was required to act as his companion. “Ever the impatient one. You were the ones who came in here yourself. I do not remember sending out an invite." “No you didn't. We came because we are curious about something." He lights up a cigarette. “And what would you like to know." He acts like he dies not have a care in the world. “ I want to know why you would intentionally sabotage your partners?" “Sabotage?"

The girl was planning on getting drunk and they had many miles to travel that day. And a tipsy mate was extremely alluring for his poor cock. Just the thought of taking his drunk mate made his shaft hard as steel. The witch must have cast a spell over him. Otherwise how could he lose control? “My liege,” Fenris said as he watched her along with Tova. “I think she is the most alluring woman I have ever seen!” “Don’t tell me she has cast a spell on you too?” he grated.

“And you still got nothing after two years. All you did was enjoy sleeping with her, it seems. If I find out that my sister’s suspicions are right, you will join your dead family.” “Don’t threaten me like I'm one of your goons. We are partners unless that was has changed?” I creased my forehead, looking at him. "If you don't want this, I can do it on my own." “We are partners,” he said, looking at me. “I was just checking to make sure that our plan was not ruined. Checking your allegiance.” “Nothing’s changed. I would expect this from Elisa, but not from you.” I sighed, "You know me better that this. You know how important all of this is."

In fact, they are doing way better than most of their competition.

“Now, stop asking about anything case-related or you’re out of the partnership, Major.” He blinked his earthy eyes and stared at me, “Partnership?? You really consider me as your crime-solving partner, Detective?” “Uh, well, this is awkward but… yes.” “Wait—” he paused and opened the book ‘What is ASPD’. “This isn’t some sort of manipulation, is it?” He asked after speed-reading some lines. I rolled my eyes and was about to respond but a call from my phone interrupted the conversation. I checked the contact and it was unregistered.

Which was why I did not know where this was coming from. Still baffled, I asked, "Is that all he said to you?" "That’s all. And he blocked me afterwards." Great. I exhaled sharply. Somehow, something strongly told me that while my rival companies could be a part of this mess, the real mastermind was Clara and Raphael, probably. The question was, how exactly were they breaking the trust of partners I had spent time and money pulling to myself?
