She commented sarcastically, causing my joyous spirit to come crashing down. Carter nudged her legs but she glared at him in response and picked up the menu. I knew she didn't mean anything she said as her actions was influenced by the upcoming blood moon but I couldn't help but feel sad about it. I felt conflicted. I still was unable to wrap my head around the reason why Father decided to organize a ball on the night of the blood moon. The blood moon was a special night for powerful beings to reveal their full glory but it was also a night where witches who practiced dark magic were favoured as the atmosphere would be filled with all shades of power.
