She looked at it.
It wasn’t white. It was pale pink, like a dead flower. In the middle was a tiny red dot, like blood. She tried to wipe it off, but it stuck to her skin, cold and wrong.
More pink snowflakes fell, floating through the open door. They didn’t melt on the floor. They just sat there, like little pink flags with red dots, showing the village belonged to this new, scary enemy.
The Blood Moon was gone from the sky. But it was still here, smarter and meaner. It was using their families to come back. And Eli was its messenger, sitting there, scratching its weird symbol.
