Swallowing my pride, I forced myself to stay still, my voice trembling as I replied, “And if I don’t?” His smile turned cold, his eyes narrowing as he leaned in close. “Then you’re of no use to me. And you know what happens to people who are useless.” I stood frozen at his words. My skin crawled where his finger had traced against me, the disgusting sensation refusing to fade. My fists clenched at my sides, nails digging into my palms until the sharp sting distracted me from the bile rising in my throat. I was being too emotional now.
