PATIENT ZERO -The lone survivor
It was a deep, low-frequency hum that seemed to rattle the microphone itself, followed by the terrifying shriek of tearing metal.
On the screen, the sky above the State House physically darkened. The bright midday sun was eclipsed not by clouds, but by a massive, localized distortion of the gravitational field. The air warped, bending the light into a sickening, violet-tinged haze.
"God above," Baraka whispered, leaning closer to the tablet. He knew that energy signature. He had felt it at the Sanctuary.
From the center of the violet distortion, a figure descended.
He didn't fly; he simply commanded the earth to release its hold on him. He drifted downward with the terrifying, inevitable gra
