That energy.
It wasn’t natural.
Then came the alarm.
“We’re under attack,” I muttered, heart racing.
I bolted down the hallway, shifting halfway through the pack house, ignoring startled warriors and screaming pups. Outside, chaos had already broken loose. Warriors were assembling. Some were already bleeding.
Then I saw it.
The demon.
It was enormous, shadow-black, humanoid, its face twisted into something almost amused. And in front of it …
“No,” I whispered. “Dad.”
He was already mid-battle. I watched as my father, Alpha Jerry, launched himself at the demon, his massive brown wolf form fast and powerful. He struck the demon's chest, clawing at its ribs, biting at its throat.
